Re: Napa '93-'98 fed downpipe is crap
For what it's worth that part appears to be identical to the Walker version, which means that 99.9% of aftermarket private label parts are going to be the same thing, and therefore similarly crap....

Re: Where Have All the First Gens Gone?
They're all over the place around here. My area has a fairly high concentration of hoopties, and first (and second!) gen. Saturns feature prominently and in high volume on the local low-rent dealer...

Re: Secondary air question
I'm not sure what I'm lookin' at, there. Where the heck did the original mounting studs go? Did homeboy just stick the wrong year exhaust manifold on that thing before you bought it, or what? That...

Re: Got rear-ended, car totaled
I hope you looted every nut, bolt, and screw from your totaled one that would be of value for your new one before you let them get their hooks on it...
How much do they want to salvage it back? It...

Re: Backlit Shift Knob
They sell battery powered ones in the riceboy aisle of your local auto parts place. I don't think jury-rigging one with some resistors to safely run at 12v would be too difficult -- at least after...

Re: tailpipe hanger rusted
You can get clamp-on "fix it" hangers that may or may not work for you. You can play with them at your local auto parts place and see if you can find one that looks as if it's the right shape. The...

Re: Post Up Your Wheel/Tire Setup!
My Altimaxes are a size shorter and a side wider than factory on the "aspect ratio" meter. That probably reduces my ground clearance 0.02% and changes my spedometer to match, but I have yet to have...

Re: Post Up Your Wheel/Tire Setup!
Finally, I found someone who shares my point of view.
Everything in my (extended) stable of vehicles is riding on steelies. When I got my SL2 it had aftermarket wheel covers on it and currently...

Re: plastic doors?
To be specific, all of the horizontal surfaces are metal. The vertical portion of the trunk lid is plastic as well. So, pretty much anywhere you'd want to stick a magnet you can't. On the plus side,...

Re: 2002 radio wiring
Insofar as I am aware, the stock radio I ripped out of mine (2002, single CD player) just just a straight up stereo that doesn't talk to anything else other than the speakers. To wit: I can power it...

Re: Someone almost hit me!
Ditto to pretty much all of the above.
They recently installed new traffic lights in front of my restaurant that give red arrows to left-turning traffic coming off the main drag, and later gives...

Re: Why do people like Saturns?
Digression: I win.
I once goaded a moron in an Acura crossover-somethingorother into eating ditch during an ice storm. Sort of. I was going "too slow" (read: a speed at which I would not crash)...

Re: Why do people like Saturns?
I keep seein' those "legendarily reliable" Hondas broken down on the side of the road around here in way higher quantities than any other make of car. Does that mean anything? Probably not, other...

Re: tire recommendations?
I have General Altimax R/T's on mine. I work delivery in my Saturn in all kinds of asinine weather conditions. They do not lose grip around corners or in the rain. Or even around corners and in the...

Re: Name that Part: in the trunk
I second making your own. Mine is a bit saggy due to moisture exposure, and so are all the ones I've seen at junkyards -- especially when they're left with their trunk lids open for...

Re: Anyone used a Video Recorder Black Box?
The kicker, of course, is that the cops are too chicken(beep) to enforce existing traffic laws that are not speeding or DUI. Therefore, people start growing an attitude that they are "entitled" to do...

Re: Anyone used a Video Recorder Black Box?
I keep one in my car when I'm working delivery. Mine faces forwards; If a driver hits me from behind it is "automatically" their fault in this state. The forward facing camera is more useful because...

Re: Red Brake, ABS, Wrench Lights All On

Re: Saturn SWx versus Ford Focus Wagon
They are not. I owned one, as did my dad. Both cars turned out to be fallapart specials -- He bought his new (2001) and I bought mine used (2004), I managed to keep mine together for about a year and...
