Re: Head and block compatability

Re: '02 Saturn SL1 upgrade advice wanted

Pretty awesome! My thermostat had no issues, and I am on the original radiator as well. I did replace the thermostat and hoses while rebuilding as it seemed like a good idea.

I don't have a scientific recommendation. Before my rebuild I would use Castrol for the oil change, and a cheap store brand (Walmart or Menards) for the top offs.

I am also a fan of green Prestone...

Re: '02 Saturn SL1 upgrade advice wanted

A do it myself rebuild cost me about $1400. Others have done it cheaper by honing rather than going to a machine shop. Paying someone to do it would probably cost twice that. How much cheap oil can...

Re: 99 SL2 rebuild thread

We did a straight rebuild. We are saving the extra credit for the airplane project! Car has over 210K miles now, over 6K since the rebuild. Runs and drives great.

If the bolts just spin, the tab has broken and you are spinning the clip nut. Most likely it won't retain the door skin anymore. If you can remove the rest of the tabs it should come off. My...
