Re: VUE advice

VUE section would actually probably get more views/replies. There are a few of threads in there with information on what to look out for.

1st gen: 2002-07, with a refresh in 2006
2nd gen: 2008-10...

They say they will - don't know what the process will be for that.

From the press release...

Re: How to tell if VUE has dreaded/hated/bad designed VTI transmission

If it's a 2005 I4, it would only have a VTi if it's all-wheel drive. Most obvious way to tell is if it has an "AWD" badge on the tailgate, unless that fell off or was removed...

But I don't...

Re: Opal Astra GTC vs Saturn Astra XR

GTC is/was the designation given to the 3-door Astra bodystyle, like the 2-door Kia Forte is called Forte Koup. The Astra OPC (Opel)/VXR (Vauxhall)/HSV (Holden) would be more powerful, firmer...

Re: Shift cable locking tab recall - Canada

We've received a recall notice but it's one of those that say parts will be available in January/early 2013. I imagine they'll send out another letter then.

Re: Fuel Mileage Past & Now.?

Compared to an old Civic, a new one isn't really better, but the Civic has grown to have as much passenger space or more than most old Accords.

A new Civic automatic is rated for 28 city/39...

Re: Bye Bye Vue :(

Yep, 1.4T has a chain (example, here's the timing chain tensioner (,carcode,1446770,parttype,5736,a,Search%2Bfor%2BDeeza)). Shouldn't be much longer until they...

Re: Bye Bye Vue :(

The turbo 1.4 in the Cruze uses a timing chain - only the 1.8 in the base LS is a timing belt.

Re: 2005 Chev Equinox Wheels

Equinox, Torrent, Rendezvous, Aztek, GM minivans through '05 should work; I believe the GM W-bodies have the same bolt pattern, hub size, etc. as well.

Don't know about the new '10+...

Re: Which SUV should be next?

Since you like the VUE and it seems to be running well I would agree with the others and say stick with the VUE as your family vehicle for a bit, rather than add to your vehicle fleet just for the...

Re: 2002 Vue automatic reliability question.

Yup. VTi is the CVT. Skip those and you should be fine - the Aisin 5-speed auto is pretty good.

Re: 2002 Vue automatic reliability question.

VTis were 2002-04 four-cylinder automatics, and 2005 all-wheel drive four-cylinders (front-drive four-cylinder automatics switched to a more reliable four-speed automatic in 2005).

Badging on the...

Re: Well it was time... R.I.P. to my '07 XR, 73K miles

I wonder if they might've helped if you contacted GM customer service. Noticed them around other forums, and I believe a member here has mentioned them helping some out (believe it was onefunkar, who...

Re: thinking of getting vue. Need advice.

The 4 cylinder/manual is a pretty reliable combination. The VTi automatic in the 2002-04 VUE was a bad design, hence the advice to avoid those transmissions.

Re: A Really Different AURA Story

Remote door sensors sounds like it could be door lock actuator(s).

Neat story. I think we've had a couple run-ins with past cars like that but never could get close enough to check (like the VIN)....

Re: A/C Issue-Compressor or Low on Freon?

Welcome to the forum; this happened to him last July so he wouldn't have much recourse with the shop anyway, but it didn't come on for him during the day either:

A couple posts up he mentioned...

Re: Which wheels?

I've always liked those factory alloys, but the aftermarket ones look good as well. By now it doesn't matter much to the resale value if it looks stock or not and even you're probably planning to...

Re: gold badges?

Gold badges were just an accessory, not really meant to signify any special edition. Added by the dealer or owner after the car was built as with a number of other cars until a few years ago (don't...

As mentioned above, skip the kind with the stop-leak in it. I'm sure the other more A/C-knowledgeable members will chime in, so I'll mention the basics: the system should be sealed and shouldn't...

Re: 2000 LW2, Timing Chain or Belt ???

tomcook had it correct - in 2000 the LW1 had the 2.2L I4, LW2 had the 3.0L V6.

Re: Whats the difference between level 2 and level 3 ?

The main things an ION 3 would have standard that a 2 could not have were the silver-face gauges, fog lights, automatic headlights, 16" alloys, and seat cloth (more plush on the 3, where the 2 was...

Re: My old Ion 3 on CL

Says it's automatic when I view it; as a sedan it wouldn't have the VTi anyway but the 5-speed auto.

golftango, didn't know you had IONs as well. I've seen some of your posts on the Accord...

Re: 2.2L VUE / odd vibration

Also not true :D

Not much to back up; whenever Saturn offered ABS on a model it was available on every trim level. It's just not necessarily common on the 5-speed VUEs because they sold many of...

Re: Saying goodbye to our AURA

Congrats on the new Verano. I, and I'm sure others, would be interested in your comparison of the Aura and Verano - performance, space, comfort, etc.
