Re: Changing a Front Hub/Bearing on an S-Series (with pictures)

Hugely helpful and informative thread. I just replaced my passenger spindle with minimal issues based on the info and pics here.
I'd like to add, it is possible to remove the axle from the knuckle...

Re: Blinkers stopped working

Try replacing your turn signal flasher. I had a similar problem, it would work, then it wouldn't. It's mounted on the driver side of the fuse panel.

Re: I'm at a loss- OBDII still "not ready"

The scanner was the one used for the state inspection process. The mechanic I go to ( who also does the inspection ) is indicating the PCM also based on his experiences. Short of sinking money I...

Re: I'm at a loss- OBDII still "not ready"

I put a Bosch sensor in it as I didn't have the funds for the NGK one (based on the parts counter guy, NGK is the factory sensor?). I saw no damage to the wiring. I don't have any indication of any...

Re: I'm at a loss- OBDII still "not ready"

I was finally able to get the car plugged in again, and unfortunately the new O2 sensor didn't do it. It still comes up with "not ready". What's the next thing to try?

Re: I'm at a loss- OBDII still "not ready"

Here in New Hampshire we have to do it every year, and it goes by the month you were born to boot. Considering I think half the time we share the same cold air in the winter, December is not the...

Re: Backup lights help

Closed as in the switch in the "on" position? Forgive me, I can never remember which is which, closed or open. With the switch in the "off" position I had no reading. With it in the "on" position...

Re: Backup lights help

wi111ly- I tried that, with no luck. Despite the backup switch having continuity when pushing in on the end, and also when installed in the tranny with reverse engaged, it doesn't activate the...

Re: I'm at a loss- OBDII still "not ready"

sidney004- I feel for you there. Give me a carburetor and I'm good, not so much with the computer stuff. I have yet to find a scanner to plug into that doesn't cost as much as the reinspection fee...

Re: Backup lights help

billysvue- bearing that in mind, I got the same reading of 13 ohms on the multi meter both ways. I'm now wondering if that means the backup switch is indeed the culprit?

Re: Backup lights help

robb_sc2- I did have it set to continuity, and it was a steady high pitched tone. That reading was on the backup switch, both with power to it and without, and without the lamps illuminated. By...

Backup lights help

Hi guys, here's the next one I have going on. The other day I realized I have no backup lights on my 2000 SL 5 spd. After checking the bulbs and fuses, both of which were good, I replaced the switch....

Re: I'm at a loss- OBDII still "not ready"

Thanks for the info guys. I put a new O2 sensor in it today. As soon as I can find a scanner to plug into I'll report back with the results. Fingers crossed.

Re: I'm at a loss- OBDII still "not ready"

Sounds like the O2 sensor may be the place to start then. When I look online at autozone, etc. for my model it shows a direct fit or "universal" sensor, is there a difference other than the plug (and...

Re: I'm at a loss- OBDII still "not ready"

Fdryer- as far as I know it could very well be the original O2 sensor. I've never changed it in the three years I've owned it. Both the EVAP and heated O2 come up as ready though, so it seems like...

I'm at a loss- OBDII still "not ready"

Hello everyone, this is my first post here. I have a 2000 SL 5 spd with 142K miles on it. When I went to get it inspected the monitors came up not ready on the O2, CAT, EGR and AIR. The MIL was not...
