Re: Sudden sharp pull to right around curves/turns

Mine was doing this exact thing 3 years ago - very disconcerting. I think it was the LCA on the passenger side that was changed. I'll check my records to verify

Re: Back Up Light Switch - manual transmission

This was one of the easiest repairs I ever did to this car, like literally less than a minute to change. Maybe I got a good one, I changed it 7 years ago and it's still going strong

Re: 12vdc rig to drive water pump

Thanks to the Chrisbarrett millenial spambot for running up that count. F**ktards abound

Re: 12vdc rig to drive water pump

Thanks BillR, in all honesty I haven't looked at the pulley yet - I was thinking it was a central nut but you are most likely correct. That would be a deal breaker. More me sitting here on a cold...

12vdc rig to drive water pump

Hey everyone - goofy question for the day - I have always had a rattling sound around 1700 to 2000 rpm under load and to determine if it was something in the serpentine belt array or timing chain...

Re: 97 SW2 Manual RPM's rev up while Hwy driving in 5th gear.

My original instrument cluster in mine would have the rpm's randomly jump a bit, I think it was the stepper motor getting stuck, or something slightly jamming the needle. I swapped out clusters for...

Re: Spam on the tech thread

I'm a luddite when it comes to these things, but if a new user joins up, does someone (like Charlie) need to review and approve or is it an automated process? I'm guessing automated (or this spammer...

Re: Missing 94 SL found in Lake with deceased driver

That's creepy AF. Imagine being a homeowner right adjacent to where the car was...and finding out you've been living next to a body all these years. Jeez

Re: Saturn SL2 oil changed 2 months ago but dipstick says overfull.

Generally people can run above the full line in Saturns, I think between the first 2 letters is OK.

Was the car level when you checked it?

Re: Lawnmower Burning Oil

If the advice on what to check doesn't pan out, just keep using it and adding oil. I have a 27 year old push lawn mower that goes through oil like crazy, but it keeps running strong and starts first...

Re: Veterans Hospital waiting room...

Wow, that just reminded me, I have a bunch of Car and Driver mags from 1993 I should check out and see if there are any good Saturn articles there. I read them once and put them away, totally forgot...

Re: New brakes squeal

Just to finish up this thread - I finally found some time to check it over...I ended up taking both sides apart, used a dremel to clean the rust off under where the shims snap in, added some disc...

Re: Nifty Shifty

Mine seemed to come out of nowhere also, a couple of years ago. I disconnected the cables at the transmission end and confirmed the stiffness was right inside the cable. I cleaned the visible end of...

Re: "oiling" the subframe to prevent rust?

I think there is a general thought that salt air might be almost as bad, as it can get even further into nooks and crannies, plus happens all year long, vs only the winter months for road salt. Not...
