Re: Can't find OBD2 Connector

On our cars it's by the hood release latch, by your left foot. Something about North American regulations that the OBD port has to be under the steering column area there.

Easier to deal with in...

Re: Need help identifying a sensor wire!

A ha, found it. Checked my connector, the markings on it read Tyco 284556.
The other 90 degree boot thing is just clasped around the split tubing, you can reuse it. You've got a way to de-pin the...

Re: Aftermarket anything

Like nicolas said, upgrading the stock pads and rotors is more than enough for what our cars "need", but big brake kits can sure add to the visual bling. Just be glad they didn't spec our cars with...

Re: Reverse lights not working

Right on, glad to hear your case was a simple fix. I guess they just hamfisted the connector into place when they serviced the car before?

Good thing you didn't need to remove the switch itself,...

Re: Astra Black Roof Trim

They're just held in by a few clips. Start to lift the rails from the tailgate, and tug them upwards to release the clips, no tools required. Move your hands underneath them as you progress, don't...

Re: Reverse lights not working

Yeah the reversing switch itself should be on the trans. I took a look and it seems to be accessible underneath the battery tray securing bolt, it has some large diameter split tubing protecting the...

Re: LED headlights anyone?

If you're looking to get better *properly focused* output, stay away from LED bulbs. There are no offerings currently that match the exact size and position of an incandescent filament (except H11...

Re: Antenna Dry-rot

That one won't fit over the Astra base, ours is really fat especially with the rubber gasket, compared to slimmer antenna bases on Astra models overseas that don't integrate XM/Onstar. I tried one of...

Re: VXR front bumper?

Those few of us that have the VXR/OPC bumpers and sideskirts have put in a lot of legwork to get them sent from overseas. They are plentiful over there, the challenge is just finding a vendor who is...

Re: Antenna Dry-rot

It may not be necessary to fully remove the headliner, but you will be working blind if you simply lower it enough to access the antenna mount. The nut is hidden away, and takes either a 17mm...

Re: Installing Replacement Headlamp Sockets (Polarity)

You're just talking about the plastic 9005 female connector inside the headlight, for the bulbs? If you stick with halogen bulbs the polarity of the pins won't matter; those will light up and...

Re: Random "Low Beam" Messages

Do both bulbs stay lit when the Low Beam message comes up?
Do you have the basic info display screen, or the GID? I've had both screens, but I can't remember if the basic screen tells you which...

Re: Random car charging problems

Get the battery tested for free anywhere (walmart, etc), sounds like it's likely time to swap it.

When I bought my '08 XR3 in 2012 with 51,000 km, the original AC Delco battery died the NEXT day...

Re: Opel Rebadging on Saturn Astra

I guess it could be doable. But even if the clips on the Opel chrome bar line up with the Saturn backing, it will look pretty janky through the Opel emblem, unless you cover the back of the emblem...

Re: Power source for aftermarket radio

Right, I remember that from when I had my XE. I was able to get the steering wheel controls added to it, easy to find the oem controls on ebay and install, but they require tech2 enabling from the...

Re: takata recall

Wonder if they will even agree to touch our modified airbags? I replaced the Saturn emblem with a Vauxhall one on nicolas's airbag, and I have the complete oem Vauxhall cover installed on mine.

Re: Power source for aftermarket radio

Nice install, were you able to retain the steering wheel controls with the unit? Or just noticed your dark grey dash, did you XE trim not come with these controls?

Re: Will an 07 tail light fit my 08 Astra xr hatchback?

Those are for the 5 door model, so no they won't fit your 3 door. Keep looking but make sure they state it's compatible with the 3 door.

I was able to snag a used set from the UK forums for 30...

Re: Removing the Headlight Housing

Yes, please post some pics so we can see what you're dealing with. Have you been able to take the headlights off to inspect them? Any sign of water intrusion?

The lights were in that condition...

Re: Removing the Headlight Housing

You sure the residue is on the inside of the lens? You can try to wipe some of it, through the bulb hole for the outer parking lamp. Duct tape a bit of microfibre cloth to a straightened metal coat...

Re: Anyone has pictures of the astra tuner cold air intake?

The dbilas system is supposed to be good, but the price is pretty awful compared to any of the cone systems available, and for the marginal marginal improvement.

Here's a crappy pic of the cheap...

Re: Yet another HID ?

Plug and play solutions do exist as phatfire and nic have said, but a kit shouldn't strobe with a harness, it's the most universal and straightforward setup to pull a clean power feed directly from...

Re: Opel Astra headlight conversion COMPLETE!

Yeah the 25W resistors are too small, you'll need to get some 50W ones to properly trick the canbus (same current draw as the stock halogen bulbs). This will get rid of the low beam bulb warnings,...

Re: Opel Astra headlight conversion COMPLETE!

They shouldn't need the capacitors if you're already using the relay harness with resistors. You'll need one resistor per side, and they each need to be 6 ohm 50W. Wire them in parallel to the + and...
