Re: Bad alternator or something else?

To me seeing 6v indicates one heck of a load on the system, beyond what even a fully loaded/working starter puts on the system (as that only drops a 12.7v battery to around 10v). Corrosion in any of...

Re: No power at all! Please help!

Electrical stuff is fun, in that just because it's got a great MECHANICAL connection doesn't mean it has _any_ ELECTRICAL connection.

Which fuse's don't have power? Not all have power all the...

Re: Tasteful Aftermarket Wheels

If your SC2 has steel wheels, they're not factory-stock. SC2's only ever had alloy wheels from the factory. Specifically for '97, it's #6 here: http://evilplastic.com/wheels.htm

Any of those will...

Re: '02 SL2 Shift Lock Cable And Key Sticking

I believe all years have the same cable that adjust's the same way, pull the console cup holder out if you want to check. Literally, grab it by the middle portion and pull (but not too high, that...

Re: Saturn SL2 axle change. Please help

I can't find anything for a picture on it, but there should be less than about 2" between the large round part of the axle and the transmission.
You may need to hold the axle as straight as you can...

Re: Saturn SL2 axle change. Please help

Either the axle isn't in all the way or you busted up the axle seal trying to install the new axle. I never managed that so as fragile as some may claim the seal is, I'd go with your axle just isn't...

Re: P0340 code

I believe Engine, ABS, CC and Transmission are the only PCM options you need to worry about as far as compatibility goes.
The real fun is getting the "new" PCM married to the "old" BCM, which looks...

Re: Need a battery

Then bring your "old" battery with you to get the core charge removed, usually another $10-$30 off.
They don't have any way of checking if the battery you're returning as the "core" is the one the...

Re: HELP!! Passenger door stuck! 01 sc1

I always used a flat-tip screwdriver on that c-clip. There's at least one tool designed to remove them and I've heard of others using a rag to catch one leg and pull it out.

There is close to 0...

Re: P0340 code

It's a FSM document, it assumes the user has a Tech II so I assume it's one of the tests you can run using said Tech II. Knock-offs/alternatives may do the same test just under a different name. What...

Re: P0340 code

Sounds like it's time to replace the PCM, though there is a test or two more you can do (attached). Also a great time to do a compression test, cheaper to rent a compression tool and verify the...

Re: '02 SL2 Shift Lock Cable And Key Sticking

If you can move the shifter out of Park with the key off that indicates a problem with the BTSI solenoid and/or interlock cable. Probably the cable needs to be adjusted. Can't find any electrical...

Re: '02 SL2 Shift Lock Cable And Key Sticking

One of them is for GM's Passlock security scam, the other is because you bought an automatic...it's interconnected with the brake pedal and shifter so you can't turn the key to off if the shifter...

Re: Replaced Wheel Bearing on "new" '02 SL1

Pretty much all passenger car grade (100% CRAP according to our aerospace inspectors lol) are ball bearings. Some truck wheel bearings have a wider surface area and have room for proper roller...

Re: 94 SL2 wiring diagram and component locations and key tumbler set

The unlock module's power is sourced through the 30a BAT fuse in the UHJB which then goes to the 10a BODY fuse in the IPJB.
The relay box's power is also sourced through the 30a BAT fuse in the...

Re: 1995 SL2: Various questions about transmission

The Perf/Norm switch raises the shift RPM at WOT...

Re: Elusive high idle issue - 2001 SL1

With all the redneck repairs to the TB I'm surprised no ones suggested swapping it out just to get a non-broken one in there. Should be swappable from '96-'02 SOHC and '96-'99 DOHC (earlier DOHC ones...

Re: engine cradle (subframe) interchangeability?

The radiator isn't much of a problem if you have zip-ties. Swap one way and it's tilted forward and sits almost flush with the top of the radiator support; swap the other way and it sits about 2in...

Re: 1999 sl1 1/4 coil not firing

My diagrams say C & E on the ICM get +5v.

The ICM failing is more common than PCM failures for '91-'99's.

Re: Saturn SL1 exhaust upgrade suggestions

The only power "upgrade" you can do to a SOHC that even beings to make any kind of sense is a DOHC swap. Guaranteed 39hp increase for '91-'94 SOHC's and 24hp for '95-'02 SOHC's and depending on your...

Re: '95 SC1 runnning issue-Asking for a friend

'95's don't have TBI, only '91-'94. All DOHC's and '95+ SOHC's have MPFI.

The fuel filter is on the driver side frame rail and costs all of $30 unless you get innovative (then it's like $8).

Re: Fuel injector

Pink w/Blk stripe is sourced directly from the INJ 7.5a fuse in the UHJB.

The other colors are ground control wires from the PCM ("hack" it to ground to test-fire with key-on). INJ1 use's pin...
