Re: Water Pump

Unfortunately or fortunately my coolant level is dropping so slowly that drips or leaks would be lost to the road spray in the engine compartment. Its down maybe 1/2 inch since the summer.

I may...

Water Pump

So I'm pretty sure my water pump is failing. At certain temperatures and humidity I get the chirp-chirp-chirp. Replaced the accessory belt, no effect. The periodic frequency of the chirp says...

Re: P0128:Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature

Years ago I had a problem with the low temp code, would happen only after coming to a stop immediately after highway driving. Eventually replaced the thermostat. The elasticized seal was peeling...

Re: Rear Caliper

Thanks for the link. I watched through to the end. Two things I noticed, those mounting bolts for the carrier came out way to easy. Maybe it was the advantage of being on a hoist. My first go...

Re: Rear Caliper

Good to know. Though you'd think with the way mine rusted that it was submerged in salt water. I'll give caliper grease a try.

Found a few videos covering rebuild of a rear caliper. Similar...

Re: Rear Caliper

Mmm... Interesting. A vote for Caliper grease.

Any problems with the grease caking up with dust or grit?

Re: Rear Caliper

Just a matter of getting the parts in now, having to go with local suppliers. Normally I'd buy on-line from Rock Auto, its the easiest, but near Christmas I'm getting delivery times of mid January....

Re: Rear Caliper

Thanks for the input.

When I first got the car, I did all the pins and rubber parts all the way as part of getting it ready for highway use. That's when I bought the seal kits, which of course I...

Re: Rear Caliper

Thanks for the input.

I wish it was the parking brake cable, I could just unhook it as a quick fix. When I first got this car I noticed a lot of people talking about these cables. Basically I...

Rear Caliper

So its seems that every time the Winter Salt season comes around I have problems with my rear brakes dragging.

Right Rear has always given me trouble, but the left hasn't been trouble free either....

Re: Awesome z18xer engine video

Thanks for clarifying that. In my world it seems like there are a lot more issues that need to be dealt with first.

Re: Another Flexpipe

Thought I'd follow up on this for anyone that finds it.

In the end I went with the stainless steel unit from Muffler Express, came with gasket and bolts. Bit more money, but expect I'll have...

Re: Awesome z18xer engine video

Watched the video pretty much all they way through, interesting and informative. Had to watch with instant translation, some broke translation moments. Had to stop and rewatch a couple of times in...

Re: XE Rear Doors - Wiring

My guess would be that if, it was mostly working before and now nothing is working then you have switched/crossed wires while splicing. The crossed wires are possibly causing an in series circuit...

Re: Another Flexpipe

So... I'm still working on this. Its looking like the easiest or simplest way to do this will be to replace the whole section, flange to first muffler/resonator. I went under the car again and...

Another Flexpipe

Thought I'd try here as nothing has come up in Astra General.

Re: Front-end Tire Wear

No worn out parts jumped out at me when I had the front off the ground. Tie-rod ends, control arms, ball joints all seem tight. I've done a front yard alignment for the time being. Installed...

Thanks guys for the input.

In the next day or so I'll lift the car to see what's going on.

Like I say, didn't realize there was an issue until the other day. My driveway has turned into a clay...
