Re: Changing the liftgate hydraulic supports

Mine was doing the same thing. Ordered new supports from Amazon, and it works like a charm now. If anything, they're a little too strong. :D

Tire width?

I bought my Vue used a while ago, and it's time for new tires. What I've discovered is that the tires I currently have are 225/65/17's, but all the tire websites list the 235/60/17 as the only option...

Re: Moonroof air deflector?

Mine is the same as you describe. It's a narrow strip that only pops up enough to meet the roof line. It doesn't seem to do much, but I can only assume that there's some good reason it's there...

Re: embarrassing brakes

Can't say that I know what the solution is, but I can tell you that I have the same problem... Brakes seem to work fine, but it's still unsettling to hear that noise.

Re: cvt belt

From what I understand, the belt and sheaves (pulleys) are custom-mated to each other at the factory, so you can't just toss a new belt into an old tranny.
Also, do the sheaves survive a belt...

Re: Trailer hitch options - Class 2 or 3

Go with the class III. There are way more accessories available for Class III.

Also, you don't want your hitch to be the limiting factor in how heavy a trailer you can tow. It's a lot cheaper to...

Re: VUE GL rear-ended

Keep in mind that cars are designed to be destroyed in frontal impacts.

If you get rear-ended, your body will be pushed forward by the entire seat, which spreads the force across your whole torso....

Vue Factory hitch wiring

Does anyone have a photo of the factory hitch; specifically how the wiring harness is attached?
I've looked at some of the third-party hitches, and most of them don't have a place to mount the...

Re: VUE PLUG IN..electricity cost

A BIT more? Ever felt a battery being charged? They get pretty hot. Heat isn't free.
If 15A is correct for a 120V charger, then you're looking at:

15A x 120V = 1.8kW
1.8kW x 8 hours = 14.4kWH...

Dizzy 4cyl Vue - Hard cranking after fillup

So, every time I stop for gas near my house, my Vue has a really hard time restarting. I have to crank for a long time, and give it a little gas.
However, it doesn't give me trouble ANYWHERE else...

Sad Stopping for gas; engine stumbles on restart

I've been having a problem lately where my 4cyl Vue has a lot of trouble restarting. It seems to happen every time I stop at the gas station; the engine is still warm (not overheated) and it will...

Re: Removing Radio Bezzel

The surround, which has the power outlet and window switches on it just pops up. It helps to get the surround out if you have the shifter in D on an automatic. Once the surround is out, disconnect...

Here's the photos of how I removed my steering wheel in order to add cruise control. They're here in my gallery:

Re: Show of hands :) What's your Vti mileage ?

'03 at 62K miles. Occasionally made a noise when I floored it cold (I know, but I have to make a left out of my driveway across a busy street), so they did a flush and reprogram. So far so good...

Re: Ack! I think I fried my BCM...

Went into the dealership today. Turns out it was, in fact, a fried BCM. My service advisor told me that some arcing while disconnecting the battery could have done it. (?) He told me not to tell him...

Re: Ack! I think I fried my BCM...

To clarify:
Yes, adding cruise to non-cruise vue.
Steering wheel is a new '03 from dealership, so no airbag deployed.

Re: Ack! I think I fried my BCM...

A disconnected cruise wire takes out the rear wiper and the odometer??? Well that's a pretty un-robust way to handle a "supposedly" disconnected cruise control wire. I guess they really want to get...

Re: Anyone ever file suit for VTI issues?

Wolfman's right on this. I too have a Vti... the fact that you, and I, made a bad choice when car-shopping, does not entitle us to a free ride.
Caveat Emptor. Welcome to the free market.
Now, if...

Re: Ack! I think I fried my BCM...

Well, it's not the lack of wiring to the PCM. I disconnected the connector under the dash that carries the cruise signal. In the OEM setup, this wire only carries the horn, but I believe that's just...

Mad Ack! I think I fried my BCM...

Installed a new steering wheel with cruise controls. Started by disconnecting the main battery cable at the UHFB. Wrapped it in electrical tape so that it didn't short out on anything. Disconnected...

Re: Remote liftgate release.

Mine is the same. I do not have power locks, VTi automatic (I know). Whenever you start moving, the hatch automatically locks. You can hear the solenoid click.

I, too, would love to be able to...

Post VTi Additive-50K Miles

Just added the VTi Additive today. $15 for a syringe of clear liquid. It was easy to do, except that the fill cap for the VTi is a pain to get to. I think it might be intentional; keep the Jiffy-Lube...

Interesting tid-bit. According to SaturnPartsAndAccessories.com, which is essentially a front for Saturn of Decatur, a replacement VTi is cheaper than the normal automatic in the V6.... It's not...

Re: Snow chains vs. Saturn's thing

Keep in mind that, in California, because most of us don't drive in the snow often, we don't know what we're doing. (I'm speaking about everyone but me, of course) Because of that, the California...
