Re: Automatic to manual in a 95 DOHC

Only need the upper switch to keep cruise control working properly. Even without the switch it should work, it just won't turn off when you hit the clutch pedal (99% of the time you're going to hit...

Re: MEvotech LCA NFG -- STAY AWAY!!

With Moog it's hit & miss on the grease fitting. Part number doesn't matter. I've had identical labels on box's and gotten 1 of each (checked at home 45min from the store..."too late to fix now").

Re: Would something like this work?

The main problem Charlie needs to fix is that the current version of the forum in use is over 8 years old and reached EoL over 3 years ago with known, easy, workarounds to the login security system....

Re: Automatic to manual in a 95 DOHC

If you want the CEL off you'll have to find a '95 DOHC with 5spd, otherwise you don't need to do anything.

Only the '91 and maybe '92 transmissions are annoying, '93-'02 they're interchangeable....

Re: Anyone have pliers like this?

I don't get how all the various listings of that tool have 4+ stars, all the pins they show them being used with either have the pin head recessed under the insert or it's flush with the...

Re: What is a good phone mount for sc2

If it's mounted securely it can't move. Ever. Except maybe in a crash. See Dorman for some help with securely mounting it:...

Re: need help with power steering pump part #

With a '93 SL2 and a '94 SL rack I also had to swap the u-joint to the steering column to get the manual rack to work (had both cars in my yard, easy fix). Not sure it's always required but best to...

Re: [TIP] Affordable OBDII Reader (USB Connector Interface Adapter) - Tested/Works $2

Just get an ELM327 clone with Bluetooth (android) or WiFi (iPaidtoomuch) and use your phone with the free Torque app.
The mini ELM327 is even cheaper than the one I bought at $10:
Android:...

Re: New Fuel Pump for a 97

There is an in-tank filter, not sure what you'd call it. It snaps onto the intake port on the fuel pump. The new pump should come with one.

Re: New Fuel Pump for a 97

ShawnV took out more than I needed to on both a '93 SL2 and '96 SC2, but it reads as if he managed to get the tank out with the back end just lifted on standard height ramps (I had to jack both to...

Re: 2nd gen steering wheel swap, for a 3rd gen wheel?

Almost anything bolts to anything with a grinder/cut-off wheel, a welder and some imagination :arr:

Shouldn't be that hard to make the steering wheel swap, though I can't see it being worth the...

Re: Spam on the tech thread

Charlie has needed to modernized the forum and add at least one other person than himself to moderate for years now. It's just coming to a head now that the forum is so ancient (v3.8.9 reached EOL...

Re: Code P0133

It won't clear instantly, you'll either have to drive around for a while (50-60 miles minimum) to complete a drive cycle or go back to a FLAPS and ask them to clear the code for you.

Last time I...

Re: Car Stereo/Speaker Replacement

What price level are you looking for? Much as I dislike Bose I know it's considered a premium brand and pricey ($200+).

If I were to buy another receiver today it'd be a Sony MEX-XB120BT...

Re: RPMs dropping fast between shifts, idle low

Let us know what you fix so I can break it if I get another S-Series. Never knew what to break when I had one, just had to deal with the crappy shifting from the RPM's hanging around between shifts.

Re: Throttle always sticks a bit DOHC

It sticks because the engine burns oil and the PCV valve pulls the oily mess back into the intake which coats the throttle plate in oily goo.

Don't mess with the stop screw, it's more annoying...

Re: Undercoating

You have to pay $100-$200 extra every year to have it redone and with workplace's like mine you can't use the work parking lot until it's done dripping.

Re: need help with power steering pump part #

There's 2 pumps available, one with the EVO valve for the DOHC cars and one without the EVO valve for the SOHC cars. Various manufacturers make each pump with their own part numbers but they are not...

Re: Unknown engine noise when cold

I wouldn't expect putting anything in the gas to help lifter or valve noise, only injector or fuel pump noise.

The lifters are hydraulic, no adjustment available.

Add half a quart or a full...

Re: Transmission Question - Racing

The parts car is a '91 and the racer is a '93? '91-'92's are a horrible parts car for anything other than another '91-'92 (though, if it's a DOHC swap the 4-2-1 header over to the '93). Swap guide:...

Re: How many SC2s were yellow?

True actual awesome yellow was only a '00-'02 thing. '91-'99 got semi-close if you squinted (and maybe had a few beers) with GM's famous "tan" :|

No idea on the actual count of cars, probably...

Re: What should I ask?

Other than the working A/C it sounds like every sub-$600 S-Series I ever bought. I did have 1 S-Series with working A/C, paid $2000 to a used car dealer for it and even then the A/C crapped out after...

Re: Cylinder 3 misfire & Fuel in Oil

As far as I know the only way to repair the flex portion of the flex pipe is to replace it. They're ~$20 and should take less than an hour for a competent shop with a lift & welder to replace; if it...
