Re: Spark plug Gap

I've had good luck with coil packs from the junk yard. Though if yours aren't shot (throwing a code), then don't replace them.

Re: help me out here guys. i need answers

The coolest thing I've done to a Saturn is put a sohc tran into a 95 sc2. Its like having a 6 speed tranny without a 4th gear. Once you get used to reving up 3rd to drop into fourth its awesome. ...

Great write up, Thanks. Just replaced my 97 sw2 with a Carter pump. Solved the fuel pressure drop (key on, pressure at 40, pump stops pressure plummets to zero).

Re: EGR Removal?

Clean the EGR. Very easy to do. At the same time take off the throttle body, remove the sensors from it and clean that too. You will be amazed at the results. My 96 sl2 at about 250k the EGR...

Re: Funky-acting Turn Signal

We should all get out of the car and check our lights every so often.

You have a burned out bulb or in my case recently, a loose socket.
You do want to fix it, not only a safty hazard but your...

Re: Another Timing chain question, plunger extension

Thank you so much. I did have everything aligned properly. I've since read it will take approx. 100 turns before it will line up again.

So I won't worry about the intermittent slack in chain. ...

Re: Another Timing chain question, plunger extension

Well I've got the new head on and installed the timing chain and sprockets. I had all the timing marks lined up. When I hand cranked the crank shaft around the chain would get loose then tighten...

Re: Another Timing chain question, plunger extension

I just removed the sprockets and chain. I can see plunger extended about .500 inch. This seems to match the Haynes info as far as service limit. Having that much travel left I'm feeling ok about...

I'm replacing the head in my 97 sw2 due to lost compression #3.
Already know the cause, poor fuel pressure.
Mileage on this engine is unknown since p.o. replaced engine.
I would like to reuse...

Re: Front wheel bearing on 01 SW2

I've had good results with leaving the strut on the knuckle. Then you don't need an alignment.

Re: Work on engine hanging from lift??

If you use a stand do you have to remove transmission?
So if your pulling motor to R/R cylinder head and timing chain would it not be easier to drop engine in a wood cradle?

Re: Any tips on re-attaching the drive belt without pulling out the engine mounts?

Your tensioner should be either a 14mm or 15mm. Loop a piece of rope through one end of the wrench and get that end as low as possible toward the firewall. Attach open end to tensioner and pull...
