Re: 2006 ion3 rke

All Saturn models (starting with the 1996 model year) have RKE if they are equipped with power locks.

The part number is 10357131 for a replacement fob for an Ion (all years use same part number).

Re: Will a 2005 2.2 swap to a 2004 2.2?

The answer is a solid no. They are completely different transaxles.

Re: Sun Roof Wind Noise

It looks like you have a Signature ASI 840 sunfoof. I have linked the owners manual and service manual below. I would try re-initializing the sunroof first. You can find instructions for that on page...

Re: emergency engine swap

It will bolt in, but it is not compatible as-is because the 2007 Ion 2.2L uses some different engine management components.

You would need to install the crankshaft, cylinder head, and...

Re: 2002 redline Vue starts but stalls if gas given

Need more info. It's either getting too much air or not enough fuel. A shot in the dark guess would be weak fuel pump, clogged fuel filter, or bad MAF sensor.

Is your check engine light on? If so...

Re: pulsating dash lights and radio

The dimmer switch is the thin, horizontal knob just below the pocket on the left side of the dash. That pocket pulls straight out with little effort. Once you remove the pocket , you'll see the back...

Re: P0420 - Ion High in the Sky?

You may have a bad catalytic converter. I wouldn't be surprised because bad catalytic converters in high mileage Ions are very common. The downstream oxygen sensor activity may look normal, but this...

Re: Car will not start after seats removed, help?

Chances are that you had one or more doors open for a long time when working on the car. I'm betting you just have a simple low/bad battery. The BCM is supposed to turn off the dome light after 10...

Re: looking for help with picking shocks

Just curious... Do you think the KYBs are stiffer than the stock FE1 parts? I have KYB shocks on the back of my car right now. The factory ones were so shot that it was hard for me to gauge how much...

Re: "Change oil" light on few days after oil change

Did you mean the check engine light or the change oil light/message?

There is nothing in the engine that physically analyzes the oil. GM's OCI is just an algorithm based on engine operating...

Re: pulsating dash lights and radio

Too late to edit previous post....

You could have a bad dimmer switch or a bad connection at the dimmer switch. You can pull the pocket straight out to access the back of the dimmer switch.

Re: pulsating dash lights and radio

Does your car have automatic headlights?

If so, does it still occur if the headlights or park lights are manually switched on while the e-brake is still engaged?

Re: pulsating dash lights and radio

Did you install a new radio lately? If so, you probably got a couple wires crossed.

The e-brake is affecting this because DRL (and automatic headlamps if equipped) is disabled when the e-brake is...

Re: Best Tires for Handling & Rain Traction? - '98 SC2

Add a third vote for General RT43. I have about 10,000 miles on the set on my Ion. I'm very happy with them. They seem to be wearing good and they handle wet and snowy conditions very well.

Make...

Re: Possessed Ion, looking for skilled exorcist

I know you said you already replaced it, but this is a telltale sign of a bad door jamb switch or a wiring fault related to the door jamb switch. The BCM is programmed to turn off the interior lights...

Re: Hard to track down starting\running issue

I've attached a wiring diagram for the starting system. If the shop found a short to ground in the clutch safety switch, your CRUISE 7.5A fuse in the instrument panel fuse block would have blown....

Re: 2003 Ion Shift Linkage

The only source for these cables would be a 2003 Ion with a VIN ending in 3Z204993 or lower from a junkyard. VIN 3Z204994 and higher use the newer shift cables.

It looks like you may be able to...

Re: where can I buy a starter for a 2004 saturn ion 2.2L?

I recommend dbelectrical.com. They have one for $49.61 and that includes free 2-day shipping. They have a good rep on this forum. An auto parts store should have one in stock if you need it right...

Re: Serious oil leak, my poor Ion's in trouble! (quarts daily)

I'd first check your connections at the intake air temp and throttle position sensors. However, that combination of codes make me think that you may have a power fault with the ECM and/or TCM. Check...

You can use double platinum plugs. Your car actually came with double platinum plugs installed. Your owners manual actually shows AC Delco 41-981 (double platinum) as the correct replacement, but...

Re: Serious oil leak, my poor Ion's in trouble! (quarts daily)

I doubt you did any damage to the engine. Look for broken or frayed wires in the the area around the oil filter housing - specifically on the side where the engine & trans are bolted together.

Re: Serious oil leak, my poor Ion's in trouble! (quarts daily)

I hope it's just the filter cap too. I never understood how anyone could over tighten those. It's not like the oil drain plug where you can just keep wrenching on it and strip the threads. A very...

Re: Serious oil leak, my poor Ion's in trouble! (quarts daily)

That hose is for the power brake booster. There's zero chance of that being the source of your leak.

Check the PCV hose going from the valve cover to the air intake housing. Make sure it isn't...

Re: 06 saturn hard to start

Yes, that's right. Although, IIRC the switch isn't very easy to access because it's fairly high up in the dash. There are two clutch switches on 2005-2007 Ions. The lower one disengages cruise...
