Re: Another new Florida member

Nice, and you live in a state where rust isn't likely to be a huge issue (though I've heard some FL owners who live near teh ocean say the salt humidity is a concern)

Welcome aboard, it's probably...

Re: I Bought ShawnV's 96 SW2, with 5th gear swap as my DD

That is a nice looking car! Congrats. Is Shawn down to just his 3rd gen coupe for Saturns?

Needs window tint, though :D

Never done POR15 on the underside (on my list of things to do), but a...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

Nice, I see some of the MI folks took advantage of our 50F weather yesterday. :D

Back to freezing rain followed by snow this morning, 10F today :snide:

Today, I scraped snow and ice off...

Re: Saturn Craigslist Deal of the Day!

Nice looking car, though, and $750 OBO is probably reasonable, though they did not show mileage (probably intentional). If I lived closer, I'd check it out.

Since the posting will one day...

Re: Best Muffler that lasts the longest 2000 SL2

I think you are right, only the interior is SS.

My first SS Walker (on my '98) was disappointing, lots of rust after a year or two. The new strap also rusted.

That's what lead me to buying a...

Re: Best Muffler that lasts the longest 2000 SL2

For my '98, I got a Walker SS muffler ($20~35 after rebate). Cleaned it with brake cleaner, then wiped it down with acetone (thanks, OldNuc, stuff is great).

Bought a small jar of Black Velvet...

Re: Brakes/ oil pan gasket ?

You listed actual codes, which is good. One thing to note, the codes are teh letter "P" followed by four numbers. So the first number is zero in your codes, rather than the letter "O". Usually not...

Re: Failing thermostat or ECTS?

Looking over your father's paperwork sounds like a plan - you can do it inside where it is warm :)

Sounds like it has been well cared for, so my guess is ECTS has been replaced.

Given the...

Re: Failing thermostat or ECTS?

^ ^ ^ +1, but unless OP is too cold while driving, these are things that can wait for a warm day. Do both at the same time, or at very least, inspect ECTS while antifreeze is drained out.

Re: Wrecked Saturn Rarities

The interior is clearly 2nd gen but somebody seems to have swapped some third gen coupe (2001-2002 SC1) body parts onto it.

on the plus side, now I know exactly how my '02 SC2 will look if I...

Re: 1998 Saturn SW2 won't start

Nice! Thanks for the followup.

The ECTS has been replaced on a majority of cars out there, but seeing a new owner and the symptoms, that's still the go-to trouble spot. As a bonus, he'll see a...

Re: OK, whose SC2 is that on "Fresh Off the Boat"?

Pics of the Saturn showed up on IMDB. Looks like real FL plates

Re: 96 SC2 bringing it back to life (slowly)

'98 for sure has it, '97 most likely does, and '96 probably does not

OldNuc's research shows the hole as showing up in '97 but...

Re: 98 SC2 window regulator

I'd read that they were NLA. Didn't actually check, myself.

Anyway, $1.62 for one, vs $10 for 10 and I only need one :)
Plus, 3D printing is pretty cool

edit; worst part was, I haven't...

Re: 1998 Saturn SW2 won't start

:whoa: OK, now, that is cold

I don't think my Saturns have ever seen anything below a balmy -15F :D

Re: HVAC lights

Once you have the surrounding bezel off, the panel is held on by a couple of bolts (IIRC, 2 x 10mm head). Remove these bolts.

Pull the bezel gently towards you (will only come out an inch or...

Re: 1998 Saturn SW2 won't start

that's not cold :)
Certainly not enough to stop a Saturn from starting unless there is something else going on at the same time.

Agreed, frozen fuel lines is almost a thing of the past. Even in...

Re: My rare "Red Hot" 1998 Saturn SC2 up for sale

Very nice condition. If I hadn't already bought my coupe a year ago, and weren't so far away, I'd probably make an offer.

Mine was listed at $2900? or so, bought for $1500, but yours is in...

Re: Water leakage into my trunk

Not sure if it is the same with a second gen sedan, but for my 3rd gen coupe, it consisted of two additional 7mm bolts for the fuel filler door (IIRC, these bolts go through the plastic of the...

I hate it when that happens. If it were me, I'd hit a junkyard and get an OEM harness and use that.
