Re: Extinct Car Day Lawn Show - Oct. 20 2018

Arrived in Brookline, chilly and cloudy. Getting some food and then heading over. How do you register there?

Re: Should i paint my brakes?

Personally, I would sand them real well then hit them with a darker paint, like gray or black just to keep it from really standing out.

Re: Extinct Car Day Lawn Show - Oct. 20 2018

Re: Saturn Meetings?

There's one going on in Massachusetts this upcoming weekend (the 20th).
Otherwise, not that I know of. But if there is one relatively close to PA, I would be interested in attending!

Re: 98 to 99 swap

I did the swap, took me 14 hours as a first timer without a lift. Would probably be easier to drop the whole powertrain instead of the subframe and trans like I did.

Re: Getting back in a Saturn - 95 SL2 M/T

I had (its totaled) a mint 1994 Sl2 MT with 56k on it, and now have a 1995 Sl2 MT with 155k on it.
The second gen dash and center console is nicer and easier to work with. The normal seat belts are...

Re: What battery are you using

I am running either a Willard or Deka, I will have to look tomorrow. Got it for about $80.00 from our local battery place, Warehouse Battery Outlet. Seem to last a while, about 4-5 years here.

Re: Trunk leaking water

It is most likely the seam underneath the quarter panel. Had this on our 1999 Sl2. You have to remove the quarter panel, scrape off the old dried seam sealer, then scuff, clean, and reapply new seam...

Re: not sure what button on dash near steering wheel is for

They should come on with the parking lights, our 99 with fog lights came on with parking lights or normal low beam lights.
Maybe the switched it in 2000 for the third gens.

Re: Poor heat from the floor vents

Does the recirc work? I dont know if that has anything to do with it, but it may. According to my 1995 owners manual it is supposed to have the max heat at the feet too.

Re: Tranny Slipping into 2nd and 4th

It's a special forces VB with the sonnax sleeve, probably has no excess wear on it. I believe special forces uses known good solenoids, but I believe they are still used. Regardless, its an easy...

Re: Power Mirror Conversion

I do use it for parallel parking to see how far I am from the curb. I will have to find a junk yard car with the power mirror to get the wiring from.
