Re: AEM 21-632C Engine Cold Air Intake

The 2005-2007 2.2L has a MAF sensor. The 2003-2004 2.2L doesn't.

AFAIK the 2005-2007 air intake setup is identical despite the 2007 2.2L being slightly different from the 2005-2006 2.2L engines.

Re: Help

If the check engine light stays on while you're driving it, have the car scan for trouble codes.

So far it sounds like you just have a bad alternator.

Re: 2006 Saturn Ion 2.2L flashing check engine light

Only the 2007 2.2L Ions use the individual coils. All other years use the coil cartridge setup.

Re: Here's a "simple" question about wheel bearings

I just replaced the left front hub on our 2007 Equinox a few months ago. I'm certain it was the first time it was replaced because we've had it since 2008. You NEED a torch and a slide hammer. I used...

Re: Engine/transmission software available?

Go to a different place. A good mechanic would know where to get it (https://www.acdelcotds.com/acdelco/action/subscribehome) and how to get it in your car. You also can go to a dealership and see if...

Re: Just for our Member, Chaos

I hate to be that guy, but that's an aftermarket sunroof. :)

Your car doesn't have the map lights where the factory-installed sunroof switch is located.

Re: I replaced the front brake pads today using ceramic pads

You can Google it if you like, but it's really just common sense. Downshifting to aid in braking when going down a mountain or long hill is generally the only situation in which engine braking is...

Re: I replaced the front brake pads today using ceramic pads

Replace "clutch" with "transmission" in my previous post.

Re: I replaced the front brake pads today using ceramic pads

Most will agree this a bad idea. Brakes are cheap and easy to replace. A clutch is not. Downshifting just wears the clutch out faster.

Re: Wanting wheel upgrade.. 114.3 or 115??

The 114.3mm pattern is actually a standard to metric conversion. 4.5 inches = 114.3mm

Re: Wanting wheel upgrade.. 114.3 or 115??

They are 115mm. Wheels for this size should be easy to find. All the older GM W-body models (i.e. Grand Prix, Impala, Regal) used this bolt pattern.

Re: suspension noise

The part number they provided is for the Quick-Strut which is the complete assembly. They come pre-assembled for faster & easier installation and include the top hat, bearing, and new coil springs.

Re: Fan Control not working

The motor could be bad, but it's probably fine. I had a similar issue with an older Saturn (2000 SC2) and it turned out to be a wiring issue. The connection for the blower motor circuit on the fuse...

Re: suspension noise

I can't tell for sure in those pictures, but I don't see any cracks so that's good. Look at the gap between the top metal part and the rubber under it. It should be no more than 1/8 to 3/16 inch....

Re: suspension noise

Yes. First, tighten the nuts to 74 lb ft. Then, tighten the bolts to 37 lb ft. The service manual also says to replace the bolts, but I didn't do that when I replaced my mount. If your mount is...

Re: suspension noise

Top engine mount? It'd have to be really bad to cause a clunk, but it is filled with hydraulic fluid and they tend to go bad with age & high mileage.

If you trust that the previous owner did in...

Re: suspension noise

It's possible the U-joints in the steering intermediate shaft are worn. This is a common issue with the Ion/Cobalt/G5. The noise this makes is generally better described as deep rattle. The only...

Re: suspension noise

Under what conditions do you hear the clunk? While driving? Going over bumps? Going around curves? While turning the steering wheel?

Re: What is this line?

That's the power steering return hose. GM commonly runs a long metal return line on the subframe crossmember to serve as a makeshift power steering fluid cooler. It works because not enough heat is...

Re: Fan Control not working

Clarify what you mean by this. Does the motor work intermittently? Does it run at full speed?

The contacts of the fan speed switch in the climate control unit getting worn or contaminated is a...

Re: New guy needs pointed in right direction.

Please clarify. Does the engine actually sound like it's running bad/misfiring or does it sound/act fine and you are just getting troublecodes?

There is a TSB (attached below) for 2006 Ions w/2.2L...

Re: Saturn Ion Wheel Swap

The wheels from your SL2 should fit just fine. I once temporarily mounted the 15 alloy wheels from a 2000 SC2 on my Ion and had no fitment issues.

Re: ABS and Brake light

Short answer: Yes.

The only outlier I see is the red brake light. That warning light operates independently and only comes on if the brake fluid is low or if the park brake is engaged. Generally,...
