Re: 98 sc 1 5sp manual

If you look in the bell housing and it is BLACK then your problem is NOT a leaking input shaft seal assembly, it is likely engine oil leaking from the left end of the cam cover. If it is...

Re: 97 SL2 running rough after changing crankshaft position sensor

The FSM directs a relearn every time the CKP is replaced. There is no way you will know if it is just a little off.

The OPs problem may very well be a failing ICM or a cracked coil tower.

Re: 1996 SL1 SOHC Rod Knock

If the oil light does not come on when the oil is hot and the engine is at idle I would start looking for exactly what is making noise as it is not looking a lot like a rod.

Re: 880 vs 893 Fog Light Bulbs or Something else?

My modded SC2 has excellent fog lights. Likewise the fog lights on my 94 F350 and neither are OEM anymore. The F350 are LED and other than being slightly larger than the OEM gen2 SC they would fit...

Re: What is the diaper thing in the rear doors?

Duct tape will not last long inside of a door due to the high heat, use the high temperature rated aluminum duct tape. 350F or above recommended. Make a new inner door sheet and place sound deadening...

Re: 880 vs 893 Fog Light Bulbs or Something else?

The reflector is vapor deposited aluminum and the entire lamp is low temperature plastic. Install high output incandescent bulbs and it will melt them. The reflector is too small to be effective. As...

Re: 880 vs 893 Fog Light Bulbs or Something else?

Replacements that actually work are rather expensive and are a real pain to mount properly because you have to dismantle most of the front bumper structure to drill mounting holes. If you never have...

Re: knock sensor

Are you sure it is not a lifter or the belt tensioner.

Sensor is on the back of the block Mounted onto its own casting bulge between 31 and #2 rods, more towards #2 and is in the horizontal plane...

Re: Ground issue?

Those are good trim numbers.

It takes some time for the system to relearn completely.

Re: Away from home!!, new EGR valve and a new problem

Do not squirt ovan cleaner onto aluminum!!!

Block the valve by placing a coin over both ports on topof the gasket, replace valve and do not over tighten or it will break.

Re: Worn original keys and/or cylinder?

Actually and decent locksmith has a key punch and access to the vin info but if you have a key that is now worn to inoperable they can still read that key directly and punch out a new key. They can...

Re: Any tests to determine if my MP7 transmission is slipping or not ?

There are multiple parameters that determine a shift point with the automatic and if you were accelerating at the time it will not shift as the drop to 2100 rpm will feel like you dropped an anchor...

Re: Any tests to determine if my MP7 transmission is slipping or not ?

The snapshot MPG calculator is usually close if everything else is correct. The usual 3% or so error either high or low in the speedometer is the result of the programmed tire and the installed tire....

Re: Any tests to determine if my MP7 transmission is slipping or not ?

one possible issue can be the programed tire size and the tires you are running.

This easily checked by checking the time to cover a known multi mile route against the speedometer indication. An...

Re: Any tests to determine if my MP7 transmission is slipping or not ?

Those are the highest gas mileage lowest acceleration tires that are OEM recommended. Your mileage is really poor, even for the area you are attempting to drive in.

Re: Any tests to determine if my MP7 transmission is slipping or not ?

If the converter is not locked it will set a code or there are serious problems with both the ECU and TCU.

Programmed tire size and actual installed tires will throw off the shift points and that...

Re: Any tests to determine if my MP7 transmission is slipping or not ?

Keep in mind that we are looking at data from 2 entirely different engines and 2 entirely different tire - rim combinations. For some reason not yet discovered the DOHC is acting a lot like a SOHC...

Re: Missing hose?

The vent hose and funny cap confuse lots of people because then do not connect to anything so the function is not real obvious and being missing does not cause immediate problems.

Re: Any tests to determine if my MP7 transmission is slipping or not ?

Torque is universal OBD-2 compliant with add-ons for specific cars and there is NOT one for Saturn. Beyond that the Saturn code set is not compliant with the universal standard. You can get garbage...

Re: Any tests to determine if my MP7 transmission is slipping or not ?

The DOHC has a higher idle spec, 750 +/- 50 neutral or 775 +/- 50 a/c on and park passes for neutral. PCM allows 100 RPM error before correcting so that is only a minor indication at this point.

Re: Any tests to determine if my MP7 transmission is slipping or not ?

Silverblu02SL2: The timing advance looks OK but the RPM seems a bit high for 50 mph, are you sure it had shifted into top gear?
