Re: Time for another goodbye.

Good luck. The Corolla is a great car. I've left and come back a couple of times too. I gave my SL2 to my son, so I haven't been here for a while. But you never know. :)

Re: Time to say goodbye

What Jeep? If it's a TJ, I hoped she checked the inside of the frame rails for rot.

Re: 2001 Saturn Auto Transmission Filter - How tight is too tight?

This is a good point. I had this happen with a Jeep 4.0 one time, but to be fair it gushed very quickly after starting up.

Re: Thanks for Everything

I sold the Mustang when I moved to Texas and ended up with a 90 a day mile commute, but while I had it I learned a lot about the 3 valve 4.6 V-8 while I owned that car.

Re: 10 Cloverfield Lane

Thank you! I had forgotten about this thread, but watched the movie again in my home theater and came back to it. Nice to know I was right about the L-series.

Very cool and much thanks!

Re: Front Wheel Bearings Stumping Me

Thank you!

It does, but at least it's an option.

There was a guy on this forum that use to do it for $100, but he didn't respond to my query regarding the service when I e-mailed him.

Re: Front Wheel Bearings Stumping Me

The snap ring was the first thing I removed. If you come across one of those auctions for rebuilt knuckles please post it!

Re: Water Pump

More than likely it was not the seal that was leaking but rather the bearing and shaft assembly. Was it making a racket when it ran? That's sure sign the bearing is toast. I've never heard of...

Re: Front Wheel Bearings Stumping Me

Over the weekend I installed my recent junkyard bought steering knuckle into the car which obviously fixed the bad bearing. I don't know how long it will last since it was a junkyard pull, but I bet...

Re: Front Wheel Bearings Stumping Me

My understanding is that it should be torqued while in the air with a helper standing on the brakes. This is how I've read it should be done. Thanks for you input!

Re: Front Wheel Bearings Stumping Me

Now that I'm looking for generic videos regarding this procedure there are more out there. When looking for S-Series specific it can be rather sparse sometimes. I agree with finding pro guides...

Re: Front Wheel Bearings Stumping Me

I am going to give this a go. It's better than spending money for a new knuckle.

Ok, thank you. I feel better about now. I'll be giving this a go this weekend and report back. Thanks...

Re: Front Wheel Bearings Stumping Me

With my first attempt I tried a BFH and a punch to get the bearing would not budge out of the knuckle. I may try a cutting wheel since I have nothing to lose at this point. I have a new hub...

Re: Front Wheel Bearings Stumping Me

The front bearing presses into the steering knuckle and then the hub assembly presses into the bearing. Not sure why you think they are not serviceable, because they most certainly are. My...

Front Wheel Bearings Stumping Me

When I first bought my '99 SL2 I had a local shop install Timken wheel bearings/hub assemblies, because I knew I had at least one bad one. I figured I'd go ahead and replace both at the same time. ...

Re: How many used DEXCOOL changing coolant?

I have a 2004 Damon Daybreak motorhome that I've owned since new and flushed the radiator twice and refilled with Dexcool both times. It has held up very well. There's nothing wrong with it other...

Re: Best way to flush coolant

This is exactly what I've been doing for decades, and it's worked very well. I'm not big on putting anything from a garden hose into my car's coolant system.

Re: We had a good run

Unfortunately though, Chrysler didn't outsource the transmission. I prefer my wife's Patriot, because at least it has a reliable tranny not to mention it was discounted $7.5k.

Re: Why are threads so old?

When I research older threads I don't see a need to ever bump them or "hijack" them, so I don't know what you're referring to there. There is plenty to be learned from the archive that is this...

Re: 97 SW2 Service Wrench light

Yes, when the light is on you have to read the code it's throwing to know where to start. Any auto parts place can do it if you don't have an ODBII code reader. I would suggest getting one though.

Re: Bonehead Saturn Craigslist find of the day

Good point! I guess the ad does belong in this thread.
