Re: Thinking of buying an 03 Vue-things to look for

Honestly unless the price is "give away" as in only 2 zeroes at the end I'd steer clear. Hold out for one with the Honda drivetrain.

Re: Why are the L-Series so bad?

So you're the one?! Honestly you're lucky. I saw so many of these with blown engines it's not even worth joking about most with not even 100k on them. All due to timing chain issues thanks to that...

Re: Why are the L-Series so bad?

The 4 cyl eco tec used in those is the same one in early Vue's. GM did a dumb design idea on it. They made what SHOULD have been a timing belt engine into a timing chain engine. However they used the...

Re: Aftermarket radios?

That should be top notch. I had a double DIN in an S series looks and fits great. Moved it to my Camry, when I sold my Camry I moved it to my Highlander. Funny thing the opening on the Highlander is...

Re: Coolant coming out of resivour Cap

Wrong. That will only be true IF there is pressure in the system. If the cap is off NO PRESSURE in the system and yes the coolant can bubble out. However the OPs issue may be a bad head gasket,...

Re: Just How Fast is a Saturn SL2?

If you saw what you saw there is no way an SL2 will smoke an SHO (given both in good shape). I have owned 3 SL2s (a 96, a 99 and 2001) and while all 3 had a nice amount of "scoot" there is no way...

Re: Just How Fast is a Saturn SL2?

OP unless you looked under the hood of that Taurus how would you know it had the Yamaha twin cam V6 and a 5 speed?
While the little Saturn has respectable "scoot" I seriously doubt it would outrun...

Re: ABS - stupid question

Follow the brake lines out of the master cylinder. If they go into a large metal box (about 6"x6"x5") with a large wire harness than you have ABS if they go to a simple equalizer and distribution box...

Re: Muffler Deleter or Something To Make My Vue Loud

Noise does not = performance. But than hard to tell this to every dip wad with a fart can. Number of years ago I used to drove a Suburban with a Vortec 5.7 and 4wd. This was a 3 ton rig. Was pulling...

Re: Looking at 2000 SW Wagon w/101k miles for $2000

Like others warned you. Check for rust. I am not sure what Oregon is like for rust. But look for extensive rust in the door sills, the front sub frame particularly the driver side, and the rear sub...

Re: Muffler Deleter or Something To Make My Vue Loud

Of course they tell you different they have a vested interest to. I have seen just as many on a dyno do exactly what is the opposite too, besides the OP wants to cut his off completely. Performance...

Re: Muffler Deleter or Something To Make My Vue Loud

Actually NOT a myth (at least for a street engine). Everything in the "tune" of a modern street engine is designed around everything else. Unless you know how to program the ECM to compensate...

Re: idle adjust ?

The Vue I had showed about 600 rpm at idle on the tach. It was VERY smooth and quiet. Doing all that ***** you did was dumb. There is something else wrong with that engine

Re: 06 AWD v6 vue price worth

Honestly over $3500 and you should take a walk. There just isn't just that much intrinsic value there. It's an orphaned brand with a dubious reliability record. Heck I bought my 2006 Toyota...

Re: Where to get the clips for the Transmission Cooler lines?

The problem is Fetchit is he's already got these clips damaged and there is no way to get the lines to not leak (homemade or not) to not leak without the clip to hold the fitting in place.
Here is...

Re: Where to get the clips for the Transmission Cooler lines?

I bought mine through Amazon but I forgot what they are and no longer own a Saturn. I think if you look up new cooler lines on Amazon (where I bought my radiator and new cooler lines) they pop up as...

Re: Could bad transmission temp sensor cause weird shifting?

While it's not the only cause of the issue you seem to have it's the simplest. Fix that, drive the car and let it relearn then see if things clear up. If not you move on to other things most likely...

Re: Saturn wont idle

Have you bothered to do a true cleaning of the throttle body and IAC valve and ports? If not do it. Odds are that is your issue.

Re: Piston Soak Success

The major purpose of oil is to PREVENT metal to metal contact. Allow contact and you quickly have a seized engine.
Also have built MANY engines. Never heard of anything so stupid as not lubricating...

Re: Extremely Wierd coolant issue

My guess here is since it's a twin cam and head gasket/head issues are quite rare for them, odds are it's doe to one or more of a few causes. If the car was fine PRIOR to the "repairs" then the OP...

Re: Brake issue sl1

If rear brakes are not adjusted properly or rear wheel cylinder(s) are leaking (which will not be immediately visible) BTW you cannot do brake adj on ramps.
So there are a few more reasons for a...

Re: I know, dumb question...

You're the one that's clueless. A red oil light on a 98 "S" is NOT an oil change light it's a WARNING that something is SERIOUSLY wrong. In your case both with the car and the driver LOL

Re: 2 new (to me) 2006 Vues - our journey

Not necessarily a FRAM "hater" as you so mistakenly say. I actually have 2 FRAM filters on both my Toyotas right now. However they are the top of the line FRAM units (XG Synthetic IIRC they're...
