Re: PCM Self-Test Indications

Good luck finding someone who knows what they are doing. I gave up on going to most dealerships as their attitude was the customer is an idiot and we will tell them what they must buy and the quality...

Re: PCM Self-Test Indications

Be polite as they tend to call the cops... :D
There are front office managers and owners who really do not want you telling stories on the morning and afternoon drive time talk radio shows. Or...

Re: PCM Self-Test Indications

Yes, then all he needs is a correct flash. The connector is the same at PCM end but it may be a different engine harness to get all the auto wires.

Re: PCM Self-Test Indications

That is true for gen-2 but not gen-3.

There are only 2 different physical PCMs for each year, one is for the auto trans cars and the other is for the manual trans cars. So, you have to match the...

Re: PCM Self-Test Indications

On that statement alone would cause me to go back to the original dealer and tell them that they did not do what was paid for and they will either make it right or refund your money.

For this...

Re: PCM Self-Test Indications

It is the type of transmission and year that are important. Did the SL2 donor have an automatic or manual transmission?

Re: PCM Self-Test Indications

+1^^^You need to talk with the actual service manager instead of some service writer. They did not perform the job correctly. Yes a DOHC fuel map will function in a SOHC and the converse is also...

Re: PCM Self-Test Indications

Yep, call dealer. Time to start asking lots of questions. The flash in the box is a DOHC performance trans and you have a SOHC economy trans, this will not work at all. Explains all trans codes.

Re: PCM Self-Test Indications

When a PCM is reflashed there is a learning process that MUST be performed to learn the transmission gears. It is a very specific procedure and different than the --just drive gently for a couple...

Re: PCM Self-Test Indications

If I understand correctly the car was running and you drove it from the dealer. How long did it remain running before it quit?

When you say everything works but you have a Service wrench and a...

Re: PCM Self-Test Indications

That should be the end of the PCM issue but how did the dealer get the car running to finish the flash job? Or did you just take the PCM to the dealer?

What else electrical in the car does not...

Re: PCM Self-Test Indications

You have an incorrect engine/transmission flash in the PCM. There are only 2 PCMs for the 2000+, years, 2 per model year. They are manual trans or automatic trans. You take the car to the stealer...

Re: PCM Self-Test Indications

The 2000 and newer PCM are not swappable unless removed from an identical year, engine, transmission car with identical options. You can not tell what it cam out of by a part number on the box. It is...

Re: PCM Self-Test Indications

The PCM is passing the self test, it is not broke. The SES light should stay on. The Service and security lights are your problem. Check the BODY fuse in the I/P Junction Block. If the fuse is good...
