Re: Traction Control

I disagree. Its pretty stupid to assume that everyone can drive as well as you and michael schumacher. Since traction control is a safety system, there is really no reason to disable it. Goes along...

Re: New driver...Next to new car...Help me not run you over lol

Ok I will address your questions one by one.

1- Personally, I really like the Pioneer Rev-Series speakers. I installed them in front with dynamat and they really have a suprising amount of bass. I...

Re: Need help deciding on a saturn for our daughter

I would go for the lower mileage one since the only problem seems to be the upper engine mount. It pretty easy to change the upper mount, just look in the How-To section. Oh and only buy the mount...

Re: AWD On Outlook

From what I've read on reviews, the AWD system on the Outlook kicks in much faster and doesn't allow as much wheel spin. If memory serves correct, a fair bit of money went into developing the 6T65...

Re: 2007 Aura XR vs 2007 2.0T passat sedan, which to buy?

Five times now, I think we get the point that it adds power and further reduces reliability. :)

The Aura has a nice comfy interior, especially with the morrocco brown leather and is very livable...

Re: On-Star

It's neat because that statement is an oxymoron.

You think I am making fun of you and I'm not, really. I also didn't necessarily direct what I said at you. I was just pointing out that there is...

Re: On-Star

Wow. I think that its being waaaaaaaaaay to paranoid if you think the government or GM is trying to spy on you using onstar. The truth is that they really dont care where you are and just want your...

Re: PS Reservoir Lines

The easiest way, especially since fluid is pretty cheap, is to buy a turkey baster and suck as much of the old fluid out of the reservoir as possible. Then add new fluid and repeat until it looks...

Re: How much should a paint job cost?

For a decent paint job that wont start peeling within a year, expect to spent between $1000-$1500. My local body shop charges a minimum of $1500 for a paint job. They strip the paint, fill in any...

Re: 4cyl Manual - Safe RPM's in 3rd

Maybe this is not true of all manual transmissions, but in my moms Red Line, it will not let you go into the wrong gear and over-rev the engine. I believe it has something to do with the synchros....

Re: Flex pipe coming apart on my 92 SL

Personally, I would just go to an exhaust shop and have them weld you a new one on. I hate exhaust work and the shop that I go to is cheap enough that it wouldn't make any difference if I did it...

Re: Valvebody interchange

I am no expert on this, but the Saturn automatic transmissions changed very little over the years and a valve body from pretty much any year will work fine. If you do a search, you might find that...

Re: It's getting colder out, and I have an oil question...

A 5w-40 dino will have alot of VIs in it, but the Rotella is a synthetic which shouldn't have any VIs in it, thus making it stable to high temperatures. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Rotella 5w-40...

Re: 97 Saturn SL2 with 173,000k miles , Worth it?

I would buy it if he gave it to you for at least half that price and keep your present car, unless parking space is an issue. Then you can keep both, at least for a little while and then decide which...

Re: Finally saw one...

I know how you feel, I just saw a SKY on the road for the first time last week. It was midnight blue, a chick was driving and when I honked and waved she didn't react in the slightest, lol. Oh well,...

Re: It's getting colder out, and I have an oil question...

I agree, I really like running Rotella T synthetic in my wagon. Not only does it make it run really smooth, it pretty much stops oil burning it its tracks. I dont have much experience with cold...

Re: Napa or OEM Timing Chain?

Haha, I actually did for awhile. But I got tired of the long hours and took up being a freelance cinematographer, better hours and pay. And you are right, Advance only offers a one year warranty for...

Re: Napa or OEM Timing Chain?

Its not a "genreal blanket statement" I've had experience with all the parts listed, I didn't just make that up if thats what you are saying. The anchor motor mounts I bought at Napa failed very...

Re: Napa or OEM Timing Chain?

Haha, I seem to have struck a cord with some NAPA fanboys! Let me address some misconceptions:

Last belt tensioner I bought a few years ago from NAPA was made in China and was definately not...

Re: Napa or OEM Timing Chain?

Many aftermarket parts are proven to be inferior to Saturn OEM, such as: motor mounts, ects, tranny filter, belt tensioner (napa brand). Those are the ones I have experience with and the aftermarket...

Re: 4 Dead Batteries 97 SL2

Yeah, go to an auto parts store and buy a trickle charger. One or two amps is plenty to maintain full a charge. Lead-acid batteries discharge over time and it actually harms them to be discharged too...

Re: broken front wheel stud

This happened to me not too long ago and I found it to be a good learning experience. Yes there is enough room to hammer it in from behind, you just need to rotate the hub until there is enough room...

Re: Best oil?

I've seen as much as a 2 mpg increase on 10w-30 Mobil 1, but Mobil 1 burns about 1 quart/3000 miles for me. I prefer to use the 5w-40 Rotella T syn, since it doesn't burn noticably between changes....

Re: Best oil?

When I was touring the Saturn factory more than a year ago with all the other hardcore Saturn fans, I noticed a couple thousand gallons of Castrol GTX in one of the rooms we passed, so I would guess...
