I certainly agree the conflicting information is disconcerting. I certainly don't know so I opted to go with the FSM. Pulling a vacuum on it now. Thanks for your help.

If an otherwise unopened system is vacuumed, tested, then recharged does anything need to be done with PAG oil? Should the PAG oil be checked, if so then how is that done?

I have the common problem of exterior door handle won't spring down. Has anyone found a source for compatible springs or another solution. I can live with it but it would be nice to fix.

In Maine they don't check emissions. They check things like horn, lights, suspension, steering, brakes, rust, seatbelts, tires, etc. It's a joke really, just a PITA. The places I go for inspection...

UPDATE: I drove it up and down my dirt road yesterday. To my relief the transmission I swapped in shifted beautifully. Next week I will get it registered again then go for an inspection sticker.

Is it much work to tear down a head for scrap? Have 2 DOHC heads, need to strip them to get full aluminum value. I would image the block is a lost cause with those liners? Maybe more trouble than...
