Re: Highest Mileage L on the Board?

I'm impressed. I have 186k on mine but have been even luckier.

I replaced the following major items-

Clutch at 115k
Struts at 115k
Starter at 165k
Ignition cylinder at approx 140k

Re: 2.2 Ecotec Power steps

What year Cobalt SS has the 2.2 manifold that will bolt in to our engines? My car is in need of an exhaust manifold as I can smell exhaust gases through the vents again. Any help is appreciated....

Re: Adjustable Steering Wheel Play

I have the same issue with mine. The solution is to remove the steering column covers and re-insert a "catching" rod that allows the steering wheel to lock into its position.

To remove the column...

Re: 40 MPG in a 2.2 L???

I have never gotten more than 33. Of course, I don't drive 55 mph either. Never will.

Re: 2001 L200 fuel mileage

My 2001 L100 with 179,000 miles gets about 25- 27 mpg in a suburban driving loop.

On the highway at 80 mph cruising speeds I get about 28-30 mpg.

Re: Power seat wiring diagram

If you ever swap a power seat in a manual seat car, all you have to do is run power and ground to the orange and black wires coming out. The switch does the rest, moving the motors. It's pretty...

Power seat wiring diagram

Does anyone have a wiring diagram of the power seat system on the L200?

I am switching from manual seat to a powered leather unit and need to know which wires go where.

Thanks for any...

Re: Going to replace Spark Plugs, what to get?

I would stay with the OEM plugs. They are pretty good. Don't forget to change the plug boots when you change the plugs. They only cost about $20 and bad ones will turn your Check engine light on.

Re: Love my 03 L Sedan...Do you?

If you want to find a great replacement battery, try a Deka. Deka batteries are the strongest batteries made. They cost a bit more than the discount brands, but last twice as long. I am on my third...

Re: Why the "L" in the Saturn L series must stand for longevity

I see a lot of L-series still on the road. I believe that the best years for sales were 2000-2002.

Mine is an 01 L100 with 179,000 miles. I look forward to crossing the 200k mile mark in the next...

Re: If you need sway bar links check here great deal for replacement

Sure has. I paid about 20 bucks from the dealer back in 2004.

Re: Real World AURA MPG

Your city mileage is not that great. I have a Jaguar S-type and get better with my 3.0L V6. I get about the same on the highway. My L100 gets the same as the Jag on the freeway, but around town I get...

Re: Tool to remove oil filter on ecotec?

Go to Sears and pick up a regular 10 in crescent wrench. That has worked for me going on 9 years on my L100.

Re: Thinking of buying a 2003 L200

Wow. I have never gotten that type of gas mileage. The highest was around 34 when the car was brand new and they still had non-oxygenate gasoline. I am now getting 27-28. I drive 75-80 on average.

Re: Saturn/Penske deal a farce from the start....Penske had no real plans to buy Satu

I wonder why Malcom Bricklin hasn't stepped in and tried to populate Saturn dealerships with Chinese made cars? I suspect that many dealers and former Saturn customers would run away from that as...

Re: Saturn Experiment Yielded 25 Years of Innovation

Although it would not be a sign of "innovation," Saturns are extremely easy to maintain and use solid components that do not break.

I think that the L-Series was Saturn's most under appreciated...

Re: 2000 LS 4Cyl - at 100K - Questions about service

Agreed. At around 100,000 I did the exact same thing to mine. I replaced the clutch at 115,000 miles.

I change my plugs and boots about every 40,000 miles. I find that if I go longer, the boots...

Re: 2000 LS 4cy- wiper issue

I would just replace the wiper motor. About $70.00 (tops) and then done! That's a job that you can do yourself with basic mechanics tools and about 2 hours of your time.

Re: Question about a 2000 LS1

I am biased. I would snap that up. I think a new engine costs in the range of 2-3000.00. If the car is as good as you say it is, do it.

I have heard that you can swap a 2.4 into the car. The 2.4...

Re: How is this 2002 L300 deal?

KBB private party value in my zip code is 5300 for a car in good shape.

Mine with the 5 speed is valued at $1385. I would drive it into a tree before I sold it for that little money....

Re: How is this 2002 L300 deal?

That is low mileage for an 02. I have 174,000 on my 01.

I am really surprised at the firmness in used car prices. I wouldn't pay $4800 for an 02, but times may have changed. If the car looks...

Re: Thinking of buying a 2003 L200

I recommend that purchase. 4 cylinder cars are much more practical as daily drivers. Lower maintenance costs and better fuel economy.

Re: Maintanence on '02 L200

I have 173,000 miles and have not had a problem with the chain or the water pump. I replaced the brakes at 88,000 miles and then replaced the front pads at 165,000 miles or so. Since the car is a 5...

Re: ECO water pump failure

Same here except original water pump and timing chain. Car has 173,000 miles. I changed my coolant at 100,000 miles and again at 165,000 miles.
