Re: Clutch hydraulics sticking...I think
True enough and another reason I'm leaning that way. The bad thing is that there's no way to know whether it's fixed. I have little doubt that right now the clutch will work just fine.

Re: Clutch hydraulics sticking...I think
Well I know the clutch pedal isn't binding. The fact that the clutch worked fine after whatever the problem was worked itself out pretty much says that the pressure plate can push back on the slave...

Re: Clutch hydraulics sticking...I think
The fluid level looks fine.
I'm quite familiar with 2nd gen clutches. I've replaced a few of them. I'm not 100% sure that knowledge applies to 3rd gens. However, unless it's a radically...

Clutch hydraulics sticking...I think
This is a 2000 SW2 5-speed. I was shifting and the clutch suddenly stayed on the floor. I could shift all I wanted with the engine running and the clutch out. The gears didn't grind, etc. but, the...

Re: Can't figure out why I'm overheating...
Some time ago I made a pressure tester for Saturns. The pic is below. it's pretty simple and you can get the parts at most parts stores. You connect it at the top of the coolant reservoir. Don't...

Re: What is wrong with my engine?!
Usually a high idle indicates a manifold leak. That's not typical on this model but, it won't hurt anything to spray some carb or brake cleaner around the manifold gasket and see if the idle...

Re: Can somebody please help me out here
I think you're looking at more than one problem.
Coolant: Is probably a crack in the radiator end. Look at the driver's side where the transmission lines go in or where they would go in if it's...

Re: Intermittent Starting Problems. Need Help
This is a long shot but, I had something similar happen. Go to a parts store and get your battery and charging system checked. Some time ago I had a series of incidents where everything electrical...

Re: 1998 SL2 A/C Compressor How Much Oil?
Just to be clear, I never intended to use ester as make up oil. I was considering it for lubricating o-rings. I ended up using plain old mineral oil as recommended and i appreciate the...

Re: 1998 SL2 A/C Compressor How Much Oil?
Yeah I got the warning in time. I wasn't going to use PAG but, I was thinking about using ester which is used for R-134a retrofits. I use mineral oil as honing oil sometimes so I had some around. ...

Re: 1998 SL2 A/C Compressor How Much Oil?
Well I put in about 1.4 ounces. The compressor is installed and those bolts literally took me hours to start. I'll see If I can wiggle another ounce in the low side and I can put an ounce in the...

1998 SL2 A/C Compressor How Much Oil?
I'm changing the A/C compressor on a 1998 SL2. The 1997 (close enough with Saturns) FSM says to measure the oil from the old compressor, drain the oil from the new compressor and add the amount...

Leaky fuel line joint...How to fix
This is a '98 SL2. The joint where the fuel line goes into the fuel rail is leaking. That's a QD joint. I'm really at a loss on how to go about fixing it. Hopefully I can just take it loose,...

Re: Auto to Manual Swap Questions
The torque converter bolts aren't a problem. Just stick a socket on the bolt in the crankshaft pulley to hold things. They shouldn't be that tight.

Re: 2002 SC2 Cranks but won't start
Haven't been out there again yet. If he's still got it, I'll probably go out Wed. or Thurs. I'll bring a fuel pressure gauge, a compression gauge, maybe a vacuum gauge and a code reader to...

Re: 2002 SC2 Cranks but won't start
Well this kid has one of those crappy cold air intakes on the car and the IAT is hanging in the wind but, the sensor is there and it's probably pretty close. It's a 2002 which means the ECTS should...

Re: Cylinder 1 misfire
On a third gen SOHC, the most likely cause is the manifold gasket. Check that with the carb cleaner as suggested first before messing with the compression or anything else.

Re: Auto to Manual Swap Questions
I'm not so sure it would be all that bad if there's a pull-a-part nearby. I would replace the PCM. You don't have to pull the instrument cluster apart on a 2000 to do that. It's under the hood...

Re: 2002 SC2 Cranks but won't start
I didn't think about listening for the fuel pump and I do have a fuel pressure gauge I can use. Again, didn't have it with me when I looked. Having all four injectors clog at once isn't impossible...
