Re: 02 Sl2 Trans Fluid Replacement Questions

As long as you can manage to not ground out the battery leave it connected, there is only the general idiot proofing for that recommendation. It is the same as don't run with scissors.

Once the...

Re: 02 Sl2 Trans Fluid Replacement Questions

Change the seals as they are cheap and a real pain to replace while the trans is in the car. If the trans is in the car then don't fiddle with the seals. Just take clean q-tips and clean the gunk out...

Re: Is engine seized?

If the pistons seized that much force will break them loose and everything will turn but the engine will be so tight that the starter will not turn it over. You should be able to turn that engine...

Re: Is engine seized?

It sounds like the pistons are seized in the bore. This is usually what happens when you run a hot engine without oil.

Re: Loss of power

Once the ECTS is replaced and any wiring splices properly soldered then you can search further as a failed ECTS can cause all your issues. Crawl under the car and thump the bottom of the CAT and if...

Re: Bolt on hood struts

You really only need a single strut to hold up the S Series hood. Take a look at how this is installed and positioned. https://www.redlinetuning.com/product-p/21-29002-03.htm The upper bracket is...

Re: Fluid running noise in cabin, weak heat

Heater core can not get air bound by design as the water goes in the bottom and comes out the top. The gurgling is addressed in a TSB and it is more or less a feature and not a bug. Heat issue is...

Re: Dorman Intake Kit Leaking

This is something you should always check with any part that must be flat to function. Straightedge and it gets fixed with a belt sander or a file depending on the amount of warp. As that assembly is...

Re: How many miles left once Low Fuel light comes on?

You can almost always cram more gas in the tank than what is the advertised capacity. The 98-02 has a big 0.7 gallon carve-out for the charcoal canister on top.

Re: Vacuum port below fuel Injector #1

Yes, the PCM has to relearn fuel, timing, idle, MAP etc and that takes a couple of cycles to get it all balanced out again. Then you can look at things like idle and various hesitations that may...

Re: Vacuum port below fuel Injector #1

Yes, a big vacuum leak like that is usually good for a misfire and sometimes an elevated idle that sets a code. It is possible you are going to find the throttle stop screw has been severely tweaked...

Re: Vacuum port below fuel Injector #1

Vacuum supply to the secondary air injection system. You probably do not have this system IF the build date is in 1999. Put a nice new vacuum cap on it. There is a vacuum hose diagram on the...

Re: 02 Sl2 Trans Fluid Replacement Questions

If it shifts OK then you do not have a fluid problem.

You have to hold the axle to get the nut off. Either put the wheel on and set it on the ground or get help and step on the brake hard to hold...

Re: Dust cap for 98 SL1

ABS connects on the back side. Clean it up and patch the holes and paint or use a beverage can. In many cases that cover is cosmetic and if it has any other function it depends on exactly how that...

Re: 02 Sl2 Trans Fluid Replacement Questions

Forum working again....

As to axle shafts. Your diagnosis is correct so replace both of them.

Aftermarket axle shafts are maybe good and maybe bad depending on the quality of the rebuild labor....

Re: 02 Sl2 Trans Fluid Replacement Questions

Filter and fluid change at 30,000 miles by book. If you switch to Torque Drive you are done with fluid changes, only filter required.

Gray fluid is water and clutch facing, not metal.

Any...

Re: How many miles left once Low Fuel light comes on?

That light will come on somewhere between a high of 2 1/2 gallons and 1/2 gallon. The owner gets to figure this out for themselves as it is determined by the mechanical placement on the level sender...

Re: TAAT sprag clutch part number and where to buy

21003314 is the good number. Depending on the year and type of the transmission this can be much more involved than just a sprag clutch replacement.

Changing to a full synthetic trans fluid may...

Re: Hitch for Bike rack

Very few people have the innate ability to remember how high the vehicle is and how high the place they want to enter is and mentally do the math correctly. There is a round RR underpass here that...
