Re: I bought a Gen1, need a crash course in Gen 1 to Gen 2 differences

The only good thing about '91-'92 DOHC's is the header, and you can't use that on '99-'02 DOHC's.
Engines are unique to '91-'92 due to a crankshaft difference. If that one goes, you'll either have...

Re: What have I done NOW?

Probably have either the purple wire connector moved over to touch the lead from the battery or the battery lead turned over to touch the purple wire. If those aren't the problem then check for power...

Re: 95 sw2 rear view mirror with map lights upgrade.

I tapped into the dome light power wire when I put one in, it's a quick simple upgrade for those without sunroofs :)

Re: How to tell if my SC2 has CA emissions?

I put a '92 header on a '96 SC2 with the pre-cat....it never noticed (via lighting the CEL, had a nice over 4k rpm change though).

Re: Swapping 96 SOHC engine into a 1996 DOHC car

It'll be similar to MCM's "Super Gramps" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2JvvWBwQBE) where they took a low revving 3.6L H6, swapped in a close ratio 6spd manual and boosted it. The SOHC S-Series...

Re: SOHC/DOHC swap - downpipe question

Need the DOHC exhaust from the engine to the catalytic converter. The cat-back should be the same.

If the SOHC car doesn't have the air pump and the DOHC does, you need to either find a 3rd gen...

Re: The $500.00 1995 SW1

Used to be S-Series I could buy left right & center for well under $600 (average $350)....now it's everything except the S-Series...Subaru's are nearly all under $600 and 2 weeks ago I drove home a...

Re: Cannot read codes

Aren't Trans Am's from well before 1996? Meaning you're trying to use an OBD-1 scanner on a OBD-2 Saturn?

Re: Replacement engine

If you have the funds and don't require the car now I vote do the rebuild now, with the engine(s) already out.

Re: Swapping 96 SOHC engine into a 1996 DOHC car

You can with the 5spds, but cruise control won't work and the only thing the SOHC is good for (other than a paperweight/glass table stand) is MPG...which will take a big hit from the quicker ratio...

Re: Swapping 96 SOHC engine into a 1996 DOHC car

Swap motor, transmission and PCM. Hardest part will be finding a razor to trim the PCM connector (unless you pull the harness from the PCM to the engine bay...probably easier to do that than unplug...

Re: What will happen if I do this.....

Or locate a '00 car with the same other options only without the air pump and swap PCM's... :)

I wouldn't buy a 3rd gen PCM on eBay...the part number for "each" PCM is the same no matter what car...

Re: saturn clutch hydaulics

I'd go with the earlier hydraulics simply because I like knowing there's something under my left foot. Never knew there was something there on my '01 SC2, always did with my '93-'97's.

Re: Bought the wrong rack, what is this for? what should I get?

DOHC engine S-Series = variable assist steering. Rather dumb to distinguish variable assist and not when there's only 2 racks (manual & power) and the variable assist part is in the pump not the rack.

Re: 99 sc2 random fuel pump issues

Either you changed spark plugs & wires, or it's not an S-Series as these don't have a cam sensor.

For 2nd gens with no power to radio, FP, chime and a couple other things...F5 in the fusebox is...

Re: Exhasut nuts

I may have been lucky but I never had a stud break. They come out of the head just fine, but are rust/heat/corrosion "welded" to the nuts. Much better deal than the crappy studs used on '99-'07 Chevy...

Looks unique to '01-'02 SC's. http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/saturn/sc2/21112528/2001-year/base-trim/1-9l-l4-gas-engine/body-cat/quarter-panel-and-components-scat/?part_name=fuel-door&position=left...

Re: Top Tier Gasoline Benefits

My local Shell station turned into a VP Racing station, lost 93 but gained 91 ethanol free at a nearly 70c per gallon premium over 87. Dunno if it's a real "top-tier" like Shell's was, but my rigs...

Re: 1996 Saturn SC1 won't run when warm - Not CPS

When my '93 SL2 had a bad ICM I could change the coil packs (or just reset them) and it'd be okay for another couple of miles/minutes. Easy thing to try if you have a 7mm (or was it 8mm? :/) 1/4in...

Re: New muffler reccomendations

You'll need an adapter from the stupid-small pipe (it's either 1-3/4" or 1-7/8") on the car to 2": https://www.amazon.com/Thrush-17702-Turbo-Muffler/dp/B00029WXMM

I loved the sound of it on a '93...

Re: 95/96 SC2 getting P0105 error

Could be a plugged port in the IM, and be sure you're not using the '95 sensor as its probably unique to '95.

Re: Front sway bar question

1-way...I believe it should have a slight dip between the front mounting brackets on the cradle.
