Re: Aura XE 2008 LE$ power steering problem.

The intermediate steering shaft is a very common (more than the motor) cause for stiff steering on the Aura. I would also have that checked. Good luck!

Re: 2005 Vue sputtering issues

2002-04 VUE has a replaceable fuel filter, 05-07 does not.

Re: Purchasing a used Saturn

Just curious-what is he driving now? Is the purchase price of another car going to be offset by the purchase price of the Ion, and will you get much for what he is driving now (if you plan to sell...

Re: 2000 SL2 stumble/hesitation

+1 to checking the plug wire routing. Also, Autolite plugs in an S-Car are bad juju-get thee some NGKs pronto. I would also recommend OEM Packard wires if you can still find some, or Beldens to avoid...

Re: 07 Redline Trans drain and maintenance

The MaxLife VV324 states right on the bottle that it is ATF-Z1 compatible, so it should be just fine for your RL.

BTW, the fluid change interval on your trans is 30-50,000 miles, depending upon...

Re: 2007 XR transmission noise (6t70)... sorry kinda long.

Sounds like a broken 3-5-R wave plate inside the transaxle-very common on the 6T70 trans. It fills the pump screen with debris and starves it of fluid-this causes the noise and limp-in. I would park...

Re: Intro and transmission question

Welcome! And yes, you can have them check the VIN to see if the service has been done. Many owners have reported 1-2mpg loss with the reflash, so be forewarned.

With regards to the fluid, many...

Re: Quest for better MPG

I'm going to try to find that episode-sounds interesting. Did they achieve the 10% improvement even with adding all that weight? I read once that the rule of thumb was a 1 mpg improvement for every...

Re: Coil pack and sparkplugs

Important public service announcement:

The Astra requires spark plug replacement every 25,000 miles/40,000km (has plain copper plugs).

Disregard if this has been addressed already in this...

Re: Keep the SL2, or trade for 2012 Impala?

I agree with you, also with most of the posters. It seems like you don't want the hassle and bills of fixing the Saturn-that makes perfect sense. What you haven't stated is whether the Impala is...

Re: Which do i have?

The turn signal problem is usually the front bulbs, they replaced them with a newer part number, also it is wise to tighten up the terminals in the socket by bending them slightly inwards. There was...

Re: LE5 Ecotec

Pretty much every engine in production today is an interference design. The chain-driven engines are far more reliable though, because chain breakage is a remote possibility as long as you change...

Re: Best way to increase light output

Silverstars have a very nice amount of light output, but be warned they usually burn out every 10-12 months, so you will spend a lot of money on bulbs over the life of the vehicle. All higher output...

Re: 2007 Saturn Vue V6 FWD - Hard to start

Airtex pumps have a VERY high failure rate-I would shy away from them. By comparison, our local Napa sells a Delco actual OEM pump module for $524, so $3-400 is a good price, if the brand is reliable.

Re: 2007 Saturn Vue V6 FWD - Hard to start

We need more info to diagnose this. By weak start do you mean slow/sluggish crank times that would indicate a weak or discharged battery, or does it spin over quickly but take a long time to fire...

Re: 'I' Gear

No, because you must drain first, then add the same amount and drive the vehicle to circulate the fluid. If you don't drive it, you won't get any old fluid out of the torque converter, cooler, clutch...

Re: New brake hose dangerously close to strut

The strut and hose cannot move relative to each other, so it should not be able to make contact. I wouldn't be concerned.

Re: 'I' Gear

I have to put my two cents in here. The 3X spill and fill is understandable when doing at home, as you don't have any specialized equipment. It is vastly inferior to taking it to a shop and...
