Re: Rusty Ass Rear Brakes

I suggest finding a six point socket that is slightly smaller than the bolt. Get the largest hammer that will fit in the wheel well, and beat the socket onto the bolt. I have had a lot of success...

Re: Something's up with her 96 SL..

I believe I have the same issue, which I think is the fuel pump. When you turn the key off then back on, you're re-pressurizing the fuel lines. The pump allows the pressure to leak down after you...

Re: '99 SC1 Shifter Linkage

I removed the battery to gain more access to the area where the clip/cables are. You might get lucky and find it laying on the cradle or on the road (this happened to me twice). If not, a new clip...

Re: Quick Subwoofer DVC wiring question

Run both voice coils in series at 8 ohms. It will not hurt anything, just not give you as much juice out of your amp, which will actually keep it cooler and it might last longer. 2 ohms on a 4 ohm...

Re: 1996 SL2 Drivers side high beam

I too lost my drivers high beam and DRL's. I ended up bending the one pin on the DRL relay to disable the DRL's. After I did this, the high beam would still not light. I swapped the bulbs and...

Re: Won't start Sometimes

On my 97 SC2 the fuel pump will allow the pressure to leak down which will make the car hard to start. To "fix" this, turn the key to run, wait a few seconds, crank for a second or two, let off, and...

Re: Help with transmission switch

I found a transmission shop that was able to weld the diff pin without disassembling the transmission. They had to machine a portion of the threads for the speed sensor away to gain access. I...

Re: My Coolant story

This is very similar to the experience I had when on I-80 going to NYC from Pittsburgh. You were lucky to be on 76 and not 80. 80 gets to be no mans land mid-state, and that's exactly where my...

Re: Thermostat angle of approach needed

If you're changing the hoses anyway, try to get a pair of diagonal pliers under the hose clamp and cut it off. If you damage the hose it's no biggy since you're replacing them.

Re: did my diffirential pin go?

I don't know about others experience with diff pin failures, but when mine went, there was no question something catastrophic happened. An entire loss of ATF, all over the place and a loud bang. ...

Re: 01 SC2 Noise from right rear while driving

I found that all the clips holding the heat shield over the exhaust were broken, and the heat shield was hanging on the exhaust. It would get pretty annoying over bumps.

Re: Lost second, fourth, and Reverse on my new to me tranny

Thanks for the idea! I ended up bending the top of the clip slightly, and used a strong zip tie. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it holds this time. :)

I also bought a spare clip just in...

Re: A/C not working below 40 degrees

It cost me like 2 bucks so I figured I'd give it a shot. 2 bucks down the toilet...and non-working a/c to boot.

Re: A/C not working below 40 degrees

I did not read this entire thread so I apologize if this has been covered already.

I had a 99 Olds Intrigue. I purchased a cheap resistor to put into the IAT sensor plug for "increased...

Re: Chime won't turn off

My car does the same thing. I can get it to stop by pushing on the metallic area where the key goes into the ignition, which allows it to pop back out.

Re: Lost second, fourth, and Reverse on my new to me tranny

It is the U shaped clip. A R shaped clip is a great idea! I just got back in from putting it back together, and I used a little RTV in the hopes it will stay together.

Re: Lost second, fourth, and Reverse on my new to me tranny

Well our guardian Angel visited me again today. I lost the clip again about a mile from my house. I ended up finding it laying on the street!

I don't understand why the clip keeps falling off. ...

Re: 95 SL2 meltdown HELP!!!

It sounds like timing to me. I mixed up the wires after a tranny swap and swore I had them right, checked and double checked but must've wrote the sequence down wrong. There is a nice write-up...

I found that one of the clips had fallen off and laying on the cradle. What a relief! The clip is back on and all is good. Thanks!!!

Re: Lost second, fourth, and Reverse on my new to me tranny

I believe they are. It's not real easy to tell with the battery and tray still installed. I plan on pulling the battery and tray to get a closer look. I observed both levers moving as my wife ran...
