I am just reading this post now. I had replaced my fuel pump, and noticed a slight decrease in mileage, now 23mpg.

would someone please explain to me how and why a fuel pump might influence mpg...

I noticed this last year at this time too: does not happen in warm weather

when its cold out, turning the steering wheel elicits a whir sound. as the / after the car warms up it stops.

Okay, most likely it was aftermarket; what threw me is that it worked by the key fobs that came with the car, like the ones I have for my current saturn. I do not recall any stickers etc.

it is more that there seems to be a bit of difference between various kits depending on *type* of car, as to what is included.
