Re: Leak at fuel feed to rail quick-connect

Looking at the online offerings at Advance Auto and Autozone, I saw that several reviews for the Advance Auto part noted leakage problems right away. The reviewers' follow-up solution was to take...

Re: Leak at fuel feed to rail quick-connect

I've seen in this thread and others here the advice that the needed part is either dealer or junkyard provisioned.

But I didn't want to pay something like $175 at the dealer or get under a car in...

Leak at fuel feed to rail quick-connect

On a '95 SL2, the fuel lines have been disconnected and reconnected at the fuel rail several times. I never replaced the plastic retainers on the rail, but they seem to hold just fine. Nonetheless...

Re: Compatible piston & rod for '95 SL2 DOHC?

KingRex (a member here) posted a couple years ago (!) about a '95 piston set he wanted to sell. Turns out he never sold them, but will do so for me now.

Re: 1995 DOHC Piston Set

This is a very old thread, but I'm asking on the off-chance: Did you ever sell those?

Compatible piston & rod for '95 SL2 DOHC?

I want to locate a good used piston and connecting rod (also an oil baffle) for a '95 SL2 DOHC. I think the piston was the same P/N for '94-98 (P/N 21007103). But if there is yet broader...

Re: A pre-formed exhaust band clamp for pipe-to-muffler?

Thanks for the helpful observations and alternate plans.

Re: A pre-formed exhaust band clamp for pipe-to-muffler?

Yes, I want to telescope the exhaust pipe into the muffler inlet (not the CAT).

The wrap band clamps may not be gas-tight, but seem better than a U-clamp. The last band clamp I used, I also...

A pre-formed exhaust band clamp for pipe-to-muffler?

For a '95 SL2 with standard exhaust, I want to join the pipe to the muffler with a pre-formed band clamp.

The pipe has o.d. 1-3/4", and the muffler inlet has o.d. a hair under 1-7/8".

Here is a...

Re: Windshield washer hose connection?

It turns out that I completely mis-identified the hose. It's clear to me now where the windshield washer hose connects, but this is not that hose. This turns out to be the hose that connects to the...

Windshield washer hose connection?

On a '95 SL2, one of the windshield washer hard lines running along the firewall connects to a rubber hose perhaps 9-12" long that runs toward the driver side nozzle, but the other end of the hose is...

Re: What's this bracket/brace that bolts to intake manifold?

Thanks, that allowed me to confirm the identity of the CPS connector.

Re: What's this bracket/brace that bolts to intake manifold?

Yes, a very wise approach. When I took this apart (a long time ago), I did quite a bit of that, but now (much, much later -- it bears repeating) I'm feeling that I didn't do nearly enough.

A...

Re: What's this bracket/brace that bolts to intake manifold?

I see now that I have to issue a not-so-fast to myself. The bracket came out of its long-term storage envelope with a 2-stage bolt. Stage 1 fastens down one end of the bracket, stage 2 is a stud...

Re: What's this bracket/brace that bolts to intake manifold?

Thanks, I see now in the Fuel section a pic of the fuel lines clip being bolted to that nut.

I still don't find info about the bolts and torques to the block and to the intake manifold. Perhaps...

Re: What's this bracket/brace that bolts to intake manifold?

#24 is already installed -- it's a known part to me. The partially shown bracket on the left side of the pic is the one I'm figuring out.

Here it is off the car:...

What's this bracket/brace that bolts to intake manifold?

On a '95 SL2 with auto trans, looking at the firewall side of the engine, there is a bracket or brace bolted to the left side of the block and intake manifold. It also has a nut welded to the...

Re: Drive train assembly - what to do if no yellow dot on torque converter?

Pardon my reluctance, but are you essentially saying the instruction to orient the yellow dot was needless, or that with the dot gone all I can do is hope for the best?

Re: Drive train assembly - what to do if no yellow dot on torque converter?

The yellow dot does not matter?

If it does matter, I find this additional bit of orientation: Near the end of the input shaft, there is a partial bore into the side of the shaft. It does not go...

Drive train assembly - what to do if no yellow dot on torque converter?

For a '95 SL2 with auto trans, during drive train reassembly I find no yellow dot, no paint dot, on the torque converter. This is supposed to be rotated into the 6 o'clock position when the first...
