Definitely a strange problem. If no codes or blown fuses, maybe connector or test solenoids. , range selector switch/neutral safety....

Some transmissions have solenoids that make a buzzing sound before the problem gets worse. However if you shift slowly from gear to gear you will hear...

Not sure if your referring to a solenoid sound your hearing.
