i've been a fan of soldering wires when i'm splicing something, particularly under the hood of a car. if I have good access to the wire, i'll sometimes put a coating of silicone over the soldered...

the heat guns they're talking about, are specific to soldering, and have a very small output hole size.
they're actually used quite a bit by electronics repairmen and assemblers as well.

for what it's worth, I got an acdelco for mine, and it works flawlessly. but that being said, you can get generic replacements on ebay for a lot less.

they said there was a very minor history of it, but that the new plugs had solved the problem.

Just bumping this thread to add that when the guy showed up with the Vue, in the glove box was a receipt for the belt replacement. He could have mentioned that on the phone, lol. :rolleyes:

If I remember correctly, the valves need to be adjusted after a belt swap. And if it wasn't done properly, you could hear clatter from there.
Does it at all quiet down as the engine warms up?

plugs were correct iridium denso's.
the Vue is from Florida. I drove it here about a month ago.

ok, this has gotten weirder. the Vue only has 80k miles, but I figured what the heck, i'll get the plugs changed. the plugs that came off it weren't original denso plugs. someone had swapped them out...
