My 2003 finally developed the problem today for the first time, and mine's an Ion 1, so I don't even have power windows or locks, let alone having keyless entry.

I just had this when I left work.
I'm a bit of an old timer here who hasn't participated for a few years.
I got the 1/4 second of a crank and then the flashing passlock signal on the dash followed...

It seems to me that all you would need to do is put a screen in the filler tube, that prevents a syphon hose from entering the liquid. Liquids can still pass through mostly unimpeded.
