Re: 2002 Vue - Anything I Should Look For?

Thanks. I was thinking of those parts, too.

He's asking $1,500. I wouldn't pay $1,500 unless the guy had piles of maintenance receipts for everything that costs more than $100 to fix, but that's...

2002 Vue - Anything I Should Look For?

I'm thinking about buying a 2002 Vue FWD with the 2.4 Ecotec and manual transmission. She has 162,000 miles behind her. I haven't seen nor test-driven the car yet, and I don't have the VIN yet so I...

Re: Anyone replacing their upper dogbone mount?

I'm pretty sure the two bolts that go through the dogbone are the same. Wouldn't swear to it... but I think they are.

Re: Deciding whether to replace torque axis mount

It's really not that hard a DIY job if you don't mind getting your hands greasy. I just did it this past Saturday. In my case, the torque struts were shot, so I'm glad I took the extra time to...

Re: 2001 bumblebee!!!!! With 49 miles on it.

Man, I'm seriously tempted to make a trip to the credit union tomorrow morning... and a trip to Chicago on the first plane out. And I'm not even joking.

Re: Clutch pedal pressure

Welcome, Mike.

As for the clutch, feelings are pretty subjective. I'd have to say the clutch on my Saturn feel lighter than other cars I've driven, but I've been around a while.

Also, because...

Re: how can i smoke test my evap

Sometimes removing, cleaning, and reversing the gasket will give enough seal for diagnostics. But it's not a fix.

Re: Motor / Transaxle Mount Recommendations

Mission accomplished. Thank you, gentlemen.

I decided to replace the top mount and the torque struts. All three were shot. I have a video of the old parts at https://vimeo.com/104813617. The...

Re: New York State Inspection scam?

Actually, whatever code you cleared that was causing the SES is probably still there; so you may wind up knowing when the system is ready because the SES lights up again. :xeye: Whatever you do,...

Re: New York State Inspection scam?

It's not a scam. You pay for the inspection, pass or fail, and then you pay again for the re-inspection. I had to do the same thing, and the inspector was an old friend of mine.

The $27.00...

Re: Motor / Transaxle Mount Recommendations

That's pretty much the conclusion I came to and what I'll be doing.

I also wonder if some of the top mount failures in general are the result of not dealing with the other mount issues. The top's...

Re: what exactly is 'reverse slam'?

Of course, you know that there are people on this board who are envious of you, right?

Re: what exactly is 'reverse slam'?

If you do decide to do the reverse slam fix, do it with the clean ATF and filter. If the fluid is funky, the fix could make things worse.

Re: what exactly is 'reverse slam'?

24K miles over 19 years?

Miles take their toll, but so does time. Think condensation, corrosion, etc., plus moving parts sticky from non-use.

The first thing I'd do (unless it's been done...

Re: Motor / Transaxle Mount Recommendations

Thanks, but the site lists an ending year of 2000 for those. They're okay for an '01?

Re: Motor / Transaxle Mount Recommendations

Thanks Robert.

Seeing as how the top mount seems to be most prone to failure and replacing it is such a simple job, I'm thinking that maybe I should just do that with an OEM mount for now, and...

Motor / Transaxle Mount Recommendations

2001 SC1, SOHC, 5-Speed Manual.

I'm pretty sure the top mount is shot, and I thinking about replacing all four mounts. Are all of the aftermarket motor / transaxle mounts crap, or are there some...

Re: Your Dream Saturn?

I agree. My 01 SC1 is as close as it gets to a "perfect" car, in my opinion. Reliable, outstanding gas mileage, easy and cheap to maintain, and has a nice style... what else is there that matters?

Sorry. I haven't made one for this car. I was just explaining what it was in case you didn't know. My apologies.

For what we're talking about here, I'd probably just use a water / oil separator...

Re: pvc dillema

It's basically a vertical, cylindrical canister that's installed in the PCV line that lets the oil and gas vapors condense into it rather than being sent along to be burned. The oil collects in the...
