Re: Annual Angst

If it's not rusty, and you haven't had raccoons living in it, I don't see the sense of a $300 cap on expenditures. A newer vehicle is quite likely to be more complicated to work on, and more...

Had a dream today...

I dreamed I was at the salvage yard, and some other dork from the forum was there too. A new Saturn came in and somehow he an I both arrived in that car (it made sense in the dream, of course). We...

Re: Need screw in fitting for water heater hose, dr. side

What is your argument against brass? I've got two brass fittings on my truck.

Re: Attention northerners....Winter wiper blade reccomendation?

Rather than use wax, why not use something like RainX that's designed for glass?

Re: Need screw in fitting for water heater hose, dr. side

Pipe sizes are inside diameter. I'd guess it would be 1/2 pipe thread, for a 5/8" hose barb, which seems a bit big for a little 1.9L engine, to me. 1/2" thread is what the V8's use for both the...

Re: STANT 14279 theromostat problem

I should get one of those tools. I used a small flat blade or Harbor Freight pick and patience, when I removed them from the wheel well.

The single piece push pin type on my truck... I've been...

Re: idle is low for first second at startup?

Thanks for the explanation. I do have the TPS issue you mention, but had no idea how that worked.

Maybe I can get away with just cleaning the IAC, as it does not happen every startup... more when...

Re: Attention northerners....Winter wiper blade reccomendation?

I never thought about that. I didn't know windshields could be damaged that way until I read it in this forum. I don't think the wiper arms stand up on the Saturn as well as they do on my truck.

Re: Attention northerners....Winter wiper blade reccomendation?

I just checked my purchase history on Rockauto.... apparently I was wrong on the Denso wipers. I got the standard conventionals, so not the cheapest, or as cheap as I was thinking. They were...

Re: Attention northerners....Winter wiper blade reccomendation?

Ok back to the Trico Ice.... I found them locally on a Black Friday special at Meijer's. They were about the same price as Rockauto.

I just installed them, but haven't even started the car up...

Re: Attention northerners....Winter wiper blade reccomendation?

Lol, I just canceled my Rockauto order for those exact blades after I read some of the negative reviews, on Amazon, and the other Bosch Snowdriver became available from Rockauto.

Oh well.

Re: idle is low for first second at startup?

No one? Well, I guess I'm going to order the TPS, as I'm pretty sure I need it for the high idle issue any way. Rockauto has it pretty cheap.

Re: Attention northerners....Winter wiper blade reccomendation?

My issue is that it seems that the smallest piece of snow/ice seems to prevent the wipers from conforming well to the windshield. I'll get salt spray on the windshield and need to run the wipers and...

Re: Attention northerners....Winter wiper blade reccomendation?

Unfortunately, Rockauto doesn't have any of those. They do have the Bosch Snow Driver, but only one side :-/

It looks like Reflex is a Canadian brand when I googled it.

Re: Chroming a rear spoiler

Mine traps snow, ice, and leaves. I think it also reduces my rear view a bit.

Attention northerners....Winter wiper blade reccomendation?

I drive about 100 miles on the highway daily.

I'd like to buy some winter blades for the Saturn. Anyone have thoughts on brand/model/beam/conventional?

I had winter blades many years ago on a...

Re: Is this the correct valve cover hose?

Hmm, I've never found that hose before.... Only the Dorman is listed for my 2000.

I don't think GM used clamps on that hose originally. It should be under vacuum, although, I think mine is...

Re: Chroming a rear spoiler

What about flat/matte black?

I'd probably remove my spoiler if I didn't think it would leave big holes in my trunk lid.

I'm not familiar with our exhausts... never worked on it. I have what looks like a old chainlink fence post in mine:dizzy:

Could you use hot dip galvanized bolts? Often carriage bolts are found...

Re: Intake swap question

What is the point of this swap, just the aluminum intake? I guess aluminum has a better feel to it, and maybe more durable in the long run, but I haven't had any problems with my 2000 plastic...
