Re: intermittent shift resistance

Thanks for the cone tip.... I'd like to think it will make my life easier. We'll see. I did forget to put mica on the interior of the tube for the last install, I do think it helps.

Was trying to...

Re: intermittent shift resistance

I went ahead and removed my diy dust boot and shifts are good again.
I have never been 100% satisfied with the bike tube solution, but have yet to find an alternative. I use a 28-32C tube, cut to...

Re: intermittent shift resistance

I guess I'll also mention that when I get resistance on 1/3 the stick makes a noise- like gym shoes on a freshly polished floor.

Re: intermittent shift resistance

I don't know what the proper material is, but I dusted the cable attachment pins on the linkages with mica. While the cable was off I tried 1/3 and both had resistance. So that rules out the linkages...

Re: intermittent shift resistance

Still trying to figure this out, but thanks for those photos, bumpdraft, helps to see all the parts.
I recall comments about the bushings at the cable ends on the tranny side, but don't recall the...

Re: intermittent shift resistance

I don't think so? I've been working on it in the driveway and testing it with the engine off, and getting the issue intermittently.

Re: intermittent shift resistance

just checked all my fluids (good) then hopped back in to try the shifter....yet again.
I got a bunch of smooth shifts. Hey, maybe the new mica worked it's way in?

I started to secure the new...

intermittent shift resistance

I am getting resistance putting it into 1 and 3rd. It also doesn't return to neutral smoothly.
But not every time.
The other gears are fine.
Something appears to be binding, I can't figure where,...

Re: cam/crank sensor

Generally, I think many of us have opinions of brands, so I get that.
And I imagine every model has a design flaw/issue...or more.

Again, I have found saturnfans members to be incredibly...

Re: cam/crank sensor

Yes, I did mean normal running engine temp, but thanks for the warning. I wonder how likely that valve failure is?
And yeah, if you're making a joke, I'm likely to miss it. What about the tranny?...

Re: cam/crank sensor

the jeep cam/crank sensors are hall effect sensors, if that makes a difference.

I have gotten a bit of help on a jeep-specific forum, but I have always been so impressed with the depth and quality...

cam/crank sensor

This is a question about my non-saturn, hope I can get some help.

This is a jeep hemi 5.7L. It threw a code for the crank position sensor.

I put in a new crank sensor, I assumed you just plug...

Re: coolant compatability

Took a look at the system after the car was driven to operating temp. No fresh fluid anywhere, but white stain around rad cap looks suspicious and lower hose also has semi-dry coolant on it. Having a...

Re: how does a/c work

Yup, I know. Saturn told us that at the owners orientation.

I engaged it but I think I'm out of luck.
Didn't hear that lovely twang noise, and looking at the compressor, the center part isn't...

how does a/c work

It has been a long time since I ran my a/c.
Like, a couple of years.

Anyway, before I try kicking it on this year, I would like to know - if it does have a leak, will using the a/c make it leak...

Re: coolant compatability

not sure, I think it's a 5 year fluid.
And def. due for fresh fluid, so I'm going to top off with the aftermarket and look for the leak while I figure out how to drain + flush. For some reason,...

coolant compatability

I recall reading some sage advice a while back, but now that I need to use it, I realize I don't quite understand it.
The advice was, don't mix different fluid brands. because each one has a...

Re: axle seals

The leak never showed as a loss on the dipstick, and now it does.
At the time of my fluid swap I did take the opportunity to check position of the diff pin and it was good at that time. I had a...

Re: axle seals

well I think they wrote down axle seal/rear main leak, and that may have just been to state that something in the area was leaking without determining what. I am very hazy on my understanding of that...

axle seals

A few years ago the shop rotating my tires noted leaking axle seals.
I actually kinda forgot about it, as they didn't mention it on my subsequent trips for oil/tires.
I just checked my...

Re: battery drain

Guess I can't do that. My 'smart' charger is 2A and I've only measured 13 ish V.

I read about a break in period, as well. I'm know all these measurements have some innaccuracies, I'm just trying...
