Re: 98SL2--3 Windows are Stuck!!

I had similar symptoms in my 98SL2 rear windows. They would go down sometimes but not always, and never go back up without pushing them. They would also drop down in stages while I was driving and...

Idea Re: Grinding noise while window rolls down (power)

My 98 SL2 has a plastic lining under the outer door skin, so maybe he was working on the correct side. I just peal/rip the lining back, then fold it back up before putting the outer skin back on.

Re: Rough engine start, High Idling, and Cold running engine(?)...

Two ideas come to mind for the cold engine problem. When they replaced the thermostat housing did they also replace the thermostat?

However, I think the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECTS)...

Wrench Re: Back Windows Fall Down

Sounds like the same problem I had. You need to replace the rear window slider. Here's the how-to.

Question Re: thunk, thunk, kerlunk, and the window won't go up

Do you think you'd feel comfortable removing the outer door skin? All I needed to remove mine was a #30 Torx wrench bit. If you can get the outer skin off you can then peel back the liner and see...

Re: sidemarker lens.. and second day at work! woohoo!

Where are the junk yards around here? I just moved here 6 months ago and haven't had to look for any yet, but it would be nice to know where they are.

I drove my 98 SL2 240 miles from norther NJ to central NY two weeks ago, and got 39 mpg. Rawk on!

Re: Finally broke part of rear sway bar link HELP!

I replaced both of these links last year on my 98 SL2. They cost about $42 from saturnparts.com, and there's a how-to on replacing them.

Sounds like that's exactly the problem to me. I tried the how-to, it wasn't hard.

Re: Anyone using Napa or AutoZone thermostats?

How can you tell when the thermostat is opening? The radiator fan won't come on till about the 3/4 mark, but that doesn't mean the thermostat isn't opening before that.

Re: i thought i was getting like 15mpg

You can try this how-to for fixing a gas gage that reads too low. Not sure if it's the cause of your problem, but it's worth trying.

Question Re: 94 SL2 - Which sensor for the temperature light....

A 94 should have two ECTS's. One sends a signal to the computer, one sends a signal to the dash gage. They're right next to each other, but one of them is obscured by the EGR valve. My 98 only has...

Re: O2 Sensor question

Bank 1 Sensor 1 is the sensor in the exhaust manifold. Bank 1 Sensor 2 is the one near the catalytic converter. That one is supposed to be a bi&*h to change out, but I've never had to do it myself....

Re: HELP! S-Series Speaker Replacement gone horribly wrong...

Those pics are HUGE. LOL

It looks like there are three sliders on the front windows, which makes sense given how much more they get used than the rear. The rear windows only have one slider. If...

Re: HELP! S-Series Speaker Replacement gone horribly wrong...

You should be able to see the window sash now, with everything off.

The regulator arm snaps into a small black plastic slider, that moves horizontally in the aluminum window sash. See if you can...

Re: HELP! S-Series Speaker Replacement gone horribly wrong...

I found that my power windows wouldn't work unless the button in the door was plugged in. Even if I tried to use the button between the front seats, it only worked if the door switch was plugged in....

Re: overheating issues.

That was exactly my point. The sensor for the dash gage is good, and tells you the car is overheating. The sensor for the PCM is bad, and doesn't see the car overheating, and hence does not turn on...

Did you change both ECTS's? A 95 has one for the dash gage and one for the PCM.

I once spun out in the snow and literally bounced the rear bumper off a guard rail. There wasn't even a scratch! My passenger still talks about it years later.
