Re: I am suprised it ran

Depends on the state really. Here in Florida, its not uncommon to see cars with steering wheels popped open and the airbags not being replaced after an accident. As long as you wear your seatbelt,...

Re: Question about transmission mounts and torque struts

The dogbones are definitely the same and interchangeable. I replaced all 4 mounts myself and can confirm this.

Re: Worst Vibration After New Engine Mount

1. No, just the mount below the one you replaced.

2. You likely have other bad mounts or something else going on if the vibration got worse. I used a solid DEA mount on my car and it seemed...

Re: Greetings from Jupiter

I hope you are enjoying my lovely humble hometown. From my birth through my teens, no one knew where Jupiter was. Now, its solidly on the map. So interesting how that changed. Heck, it was even...

Re: manual transmission question

So what happened when you checked the bushing under the console? This is a famous failure point. My shifter was a little sloppy and sometimes hung up and refused to go into 1st. Once I got under...

Re: Windshield Washer pump where to get?

Make sure its actually the pump. I replaced mine with a junkyard pump and still nothing. I'm pretty sure my issue was the combination switch broke in the steering column. You could no longer hear...

Re: What did you learn to drive in, and what was your first car?

Shut up!! I can't believe we learned how to drive on the same huge car! Ours was a light yellow with vinyl roof. How bout yours? Hopefully you were taller then me. I was all of 5'2" or so at the...

Re: What did you learn to drive in, and what was your first car?

First steered a car in my mom's 68 VW Beetle. First drove in my dad's 78 Mercury Grand Marquis Brougham with 490 and 3 speed auto. Funny story here is upon pulling up the driveway after getting my...

Re: Continuing Saga- Where do I go from here... ??

While you made a good decision eschewing using credit cards and carrying a balance, I would say you should always keep at least one open credit line. It can be used for an emergency only and it...

Re: Continuing Saga- Where do I go from here... ??

I would suggest you open your mind to other potential used cars though. I'm sure you could find something good for less then $335/mo, although I'm not sure what the length of the loan is that...

Re: Continuing Saga- Where do I go from here... ??

You are really torturing yourself with this decision. If it were me, either put as little into the wagon as possible and drive it or buy a decent low mileage used car. If it blows up or becomes...

Re: 2015- The end of Saturn Ownership... Read On...

Ummm...I'd avoid any Honda Accords from 00-02 if it has an automatic. Huge problems with these. The stick is reliable though. The 01 Civic is a dud due to suspension tuning so if you want one of...

Re: Unlimited CarFax?

Just as an example of how truly useless Carfax is.....when I traded in my Saturn, it said my car was towed away after an accident, which makes it sound like a pretty bad wreck. Reality is, all cars...

Re: I bid thee farewell

There are a few CUVs that still offer a manual tranny. The Mazda CX5 is the sportiest and offers very good gas mileage to boot. There is also the Mitsubishi Oulander Sport and now the Honda HRV. ...

Re: Clutch/Shifter Issue

Yea, I didn't recognize the picture you posted. Mine didn't look like that so I wasn't sure what was going on with yours. Maybe it broke completely and the previous owner jury rigged a fix, kinda...

Re: I bid thee farewell

Another update....I'm now over 1600 miles since purchase and not one drop of oil lost. Gotta love that!!! No more checking oil levels every 3 days. Its amazing the piece of mind that comes with...

Re: Clutch/Shifter Issue

Check the shifter bushing under the center console that connects the shift cable to the shifter. The original is a plastic piece that falls apart with age and causes the exact problem you describe. ...

Anyone need a cheap new quick strut?

I just realized I still have a brand new unopened FCS front strut assembly that I bought from RockAuto. It's sitting in my living room and I'd like to get rid of it. It's the complete quick strut. ...

Re: I bid thee farewell

Just thought I would share that my first tank of gas yielded 29mpg (despite being rated 23/31)! My last tank on the Saturn netted 28 so this car is doing better despite weighing 700 pounds more,...

Re: Auto trans mount 21012951 same p/n as manual?

As for your original question, you can drive quite a few thousand miles on a clicking cv axle. You generally have plenty of warning before it gets bad enough to completely fail.

Re: Auto trans mount 21012951 same p/n as manual?

It is a bit unusual for a cv axle to make noise with intact boots. Every time I've had a cv axle start clicking was after the boot tore open and let all the grease out. Perhaps you might want to...

Re: Death Bell has been rung

So, you are telling me I'm paying $100 for a whoopdedoo 1 year warranty on labor? That's laughable. Some parts that are hard to get to or have high failure rates this warranty may be worthwhile,...
