Re: 03 3.0 cold start no injector pulse
Cold start brings all of the following sensor into play:
CKP, MAF, IAT, ECT, TPS.
To check the CKP see if the fuel pump is running during starting attempts. Either measure for voltage at the...

Re: Should I Buy a 2001 Saturn L100?
L's are OK cars. The price seems reasonable for the miles. Ask if the timing chain and the tensioner have been changed. Talk them down if it hasn't.
I prefer the 3.0l v6 over the early Ecotech. The...

Re: I smell gear oil.
Yes, it needs to be sleeved. I have put around a dozen sleeves on truck differentials and so far they have worked.
If you can't find a sleeve listed with the seal try looking up redi-sleeve and...

Re: Front end clunks or rattles.
Don't forget to check the suspension bushings. The control arm lower rear gives a clunk over rough surfaces when it is worn out. You may not notice it is bad with the frame jacked up as the strut...

Re: Driving on Ice
Have to disagree on this. Try it, you will like it. :)
The added weight serves the same purpose as a down force spoiler by providing greater tread contact or higher contact pressure depending on how...

Re: Driving on Ice
When I first started driving my dad took me out on a smooth frozen lake and had me get the car into every possible form of skid. He didn't let drive on the roads until I could get out of every type....

Re: Timing belt tensioner help
If you are running conventional motor oil it is going to tick for a bit at startup in those temperatures. It takes a while for thick oil to get to the lifters and valve train. Also check out the...

Re: Is the dealership double dipping on labor?
Yes. They are possibly taking the standard hours for the two repairs and adding them. You should only have to pay x1.5 at most, not x2. I'd question them on it.
Water pump replacement doesn't have...

Re: Best Muffler that lasts the longest 2000 SL2
3 years on a Walker is about right.
The problem with stainless steel is there are many grades. A muffler made from a 300 series would last a long time if installed properly. OEM 409 stainless is...

Re: 2001 Sc2 - Odometer all Zeros - Won't start
A dead battery and a jump box is a recipe for killing electronics.
Some jump boxes and battery chargers with "boost" over voltage the cars electrical system. They expect the battery to absorb the...

Check the throttle position sensor (TPS) and the manifold airflow sensor (MAF).
The transmission computer uses data from these two sensors to determine engine torque and shift points. If faulty,...

Re: minimum cranking amps?
For the OP. Have you had the alternator checked out? Over or under charging is a killer of batteries.
For Sky Pilot. Personally, I avoid the batteries with the highest CCA in the same group size....

Re: 2003 V6 3.0L oil pump
It is mounted on the accessory drive end of the block (passenger side). You have to remove the drive belt, AC compressor, pulleys, timing covers, timing belt, oil pan and pickup tube. Not a minor...

Re: 2004 Saturn Vue 6 cyl 3.6L - misfires
Valve adjustment is always a good idea.
Check the crankshaft position sensor and then the cam position sensor. Both can go bad and act up when hot. May or may not set any codes.
Crank sensor...

Re: The Flashing 3.5l Vue Fix.
Glad to help. Remove the drive belt tensioner (two bolts) and the upper front timing belt cover (5 bolts IIRC) and it is much easier to get the alternator out. A good chance to check the timing belt...

Check your buss voltage to make sure it isn't too high. Rebuilt alternator can be a problem.
With the car idling in park, wiggle the ignition switch and wiggle wires going to the...

Re: Need help finding snap ring (circlip)
If you can't find the part measure the snap ring groove ID and width.
Go to
www.mcmaster.com/#retaining-rings/=1azznv4
and find a ring that fits those groove dimensions. It is probably metric.
