As far as rings - I no longer have free access to SPX (used to work for a subsidary) - so I have been using Hastings. The price is good - $10 a hole. American made. Have gotten good compression each...

I have made them out of hardware cloth (steel mesh) sandwiched between two layers of double stick tape.

The don't HAVE to have rounded ends.

My favorite is backstraps oven baked in a covered glass dish in sweet red wine, garlic, onion and black pepoer. 3-4 hours at 350f.

Cut with fork.

I built one r/c once from scratch. Used a motorcycle tube with about 3 psi in it for a skirt....

Had a K+B two stoke glow engine runnin 15% nitro....

Worked great except the fuel lube residue...

I wonder if a 1.9 dohc has a good enough hp/weight ratio to power one.. :)

Probably hard to beat air cooled 2 stroke.....

Electric might do better..

Ok... Cool... Ducted thrust vectoring.. A aeronautic Jaccuzi drive... Nice setup....makes for a nice compact low profile unit.

I was seeing if I could get the mess off so I could weld in new metal. Removing the paint is a moot point. If you don't scrape it - you burn it off when welding.

I experimented trying to take it off with a pneumatic needle scaler. Whatta mess....

The problem is - it hides critical rust and makes it a mess to attempt fixing.

I would rather just not...
