Re: Help me to ID this part please

Mark the tie rod where it meets the jam nut and compare the length of the old and new rod end, and you will be able to get the alignment fairly close so the tires don't squeal and scrub all the way...

Re: Lower Control Arm/Steering Knuckle

Depending on what part of the country you are in, rust belt or not, might be a good idea to hit the nuts inside the cradle with penetrating oil. The nuts are known to break off inside the cradle...

Re: Lower Control Arm/Steering Knuckle

A broken sway bar end looks like this, see how the end is popped out from the bar on the end of the bottom bar? The driver's side on my 95 SC2 was the side that popped out. These things can be hard...

Re: Lower Control Arm/Steering Knuckle

I had a mysterious clunk that finally traced to the lower control arm to engine cradle bolt. If the bolt has enough wear on it, it can't hold the tension and will move back and forth, producing the...

Re: Engine mounts affecting transmission?

What did you use for the upper mount? Non-OEM mounts are known to fail, so if you changed it last year, a cheap mount might be bad already.

There are three mounts on the passenger side of the...

Re: Rear Wiper Leaking

The reason for removing the motor is so that the grommet can be inserted into the hole in the glass and have enough clearance and flex space to perform the insertion. If you try to insert the grommet...

Re: 1995 Saturn SC2 - What are these, what do they do, and do I need them?

Not sure what the first one is, but it looks like it could be connected to the electronics in the dash, or part of the HVAC system.

Second one looks like the airbag module that is below the...

Re: Just bought this SC2

For the sunroof, there could be a couple possibilities including:
Broken sunroof slide.
Worn motor.
Track needs to be cleaned and regreased with lithium grease.

The symptoms of a broken sunroof...

Re: Honda snobs!

I became a member of a subaru forum when trying to help someone with their outback. Never again. Subaru design is a mess, and I never got an answer to my question. When my last Saturn goes, Subaru...

Re: timing chain tensioner bolt

Junkyard would be first preference.

If that is not an option, the bolt size is:
25mm x 8mm, 1.25 thread pitch, 10mm head of course.
The part of the bolt that the guide swivels on is 12mm...

Re: 2001 bumblebee!!!!! With 49 miles on it.

Thats how I got my fully loaded 5sp 95 SC2. Flew into MDW, took a taxi, drove it home. It didn't have 49 miles though, and it was't a Bumblebee, but I like my 95.

Re: Transmission fluid question beat to death

I paid $35 for a gallon of Transynd three years ago at Interstate Power Systems, a local Allison dealer by Mall of America.

I've used both M1 and Transynd in an MP3. Transynd has much better cold...

Re: Parts Master fuel filter vs Wix fuel filter

As SL19302 said, the fuel pressure regulator is part of the filter, and experience has shown that only the OEM and the WIX have the proper pressure. Some have tried other brands and the fuel pressure...

Re: My Red Hot got into an Accident! (w/Pic)

Oh no. Sorry to hear this. I was at the JY last week, and there are a few of the 2nd gen SCs around as sources for hoods, didn't see anything red though. From what I have seen in my 95 and the 01...

Re: Gas Door Won't Pop Open

This is what the southern junk yards are for. When I visited one in Georgia, I was amazed at how little rust was on the cars.

Re: How do I fix this?

That subframe is bent right by the control arm to subframe bolt, you need to replace the subframe, and possibly the control arm. How is the tie rod?

Re: Emergency Travel Support S-series

Minneapolis, Minnesota.

I also found a "mobile-friendly" javascript app: http://leafletjs.com
This could come in handy for creating a map.

Re: Switching to 89 nonethanol gas?

Yup, I use the non-oxy in my 95SC2, mostly because it tends to sit over winter and I don't want alcohol in the system, but also because it is what the car was designed to run on. Not to mention, it...

Re: 2001 Saturn SL manual noise/chatter under load

Could be throw out bearing and seems like most likely culprit, could be something else though. This car is probably on its original clutch.

Mobil 1 is good stuff, can't complain about it at all....

Re: 2001 Saturn SL manual noise/chatter under load

Does the noise change or decrease when you push in the clutch while the sound is occurring? That would at least isolate the noise to either the clutch and transmission or the engine. 112K is a little...
