Re: 1993 SC1 Relationship advice.

I'd fix that trailing arm mount, probably replace the engine cradle and 100% I'd swap in a DOHC (bolt-in swap nets you almost 40 more ponies).

All the broken plastic bits I'd try to not let bother...

Re: Identifying part number 21111395

If it's actually a front end mask...the '91-'92 SC and '93-'96 SC2's have a different front end than the '91-'95 4dr's and '93-'96 SC1's.
To the point it's likely 100% incompatible...

Re: Steerin wheel locked?

I'd replace the tumbler now, while it's still semi-working and easy, rather than waiting for it to be unusable and require hours of work to replace. When it works right it takes about 10 minutes to...

Re: Ford v Ferrari - will the Saturn story ever...

Saturn used the same aluminum alloy blocks for the entire S-Series run. The blocks are unchanged '91-'02 DOHC/SOHC, all identical (nearly everything that bolts onto/into the block changes but that's...

Re: 1997 SW2 Automatic transmission mount Replacement

For you people that don't know rust it's less complicated to drop the cradle bolts on the transmission side. They don't even have to come all the way out, only an inch or so.

Re: 1999 SW1 Poor Engine Power...Fuel Pump???

For the DOHC's: 1st precat included with Cali emissions in 1996, became standard in 2001. Different manifold, different downpipe, not compatible with the other manifold/downpipe. No idea how closely...

Re: Heater Core Headaches

According to AllDataDIY the part number is 21030334, which on all the GM parts websites says is '91-'02 Series so it shouldn't be a typical aftermarket screw up with a "this part only fits this year...

Re: Siphon gas problems

Most all of the S-Series has some form of anti-siphon somewhere between the gas cap and the tank. On a '96 I bought it was at the bottom of the filler neck so the PO cut the rubber connecting line to...

Re: air filter box reserve canister A51. Missing!

I have no idea what the S-Series DOHC's sound like with it installed, it was always the first thing to get removed when I bought one if the previous owner(s) wasn't the type to work on cars...

Re: 1997 SW2 can't get new spark plug wires on

Based on the new description, I'm not sure I understand the issue after all.
Are the wires clipping onto the spark plugs and then sticking above the valve cover or are they not reaching the spark...

Re: Auto to manual swap & cruise control

The autos have a "slipping" clutch 100% of the time the TC isn't locked up. This means there's a range of VSS vs Tach readings for each gear that are acceptable. If you can get a 5spd Tach & VSS...

Re: 1997 SW2 can't get new spark plug wires on

RA sent me the wrong parking brake cables in the right box, it was "my" fault. Asked me to pay return s/h + restocking fee.
RA sent me the wrong fuel filler tube (they only list 1 for that car), it...

Re: 1997 SW2 can't get new spark plug wires on

Likely you were sold wires for a '91-'95 DOHC rather than a '96-'02 DOHC.

Re: Auto to manual swap & cruise control

Unbolt the useless crap, bolt on the fun. Takes 2-3 days the first time, a full day after that. Probably faster with power tools, a lift and not fighting the engine hoist in the dirt.

Re: 1997 SW2 Belt Tensioner

10+ years ago Gates was still the OE supplier for the S-Series. Not sure about today; Uzzy left the forum 8-10 years ago, had a bunch of posts about the tensioner and idler pulleys and some insider...

Re: 1997 SW2 Automatic transmission mount Replacement

People don't want to modify things, they want to bolt-in and go
Cutting a bolt shorter nearly always makes the threads hard/impossible to start and most don't want to go through the effort of...

Re: Where to obtain body parts?

New body parts? They're right there next to the muffler bearings and blinker fluid :hmm:

'91-'95 use the same exterior panels for the door count though the wagons are unique behind the rear...

Re: Seat Installation

The front seats are interchangeable '91-'02. GM parts listings do show a design changes in '97 and '00 but that doesn't affect how the seat is mounted. You'll have to either bend the tracks back into...

Re: Seat Installation

I've never seen that fabric pattern in the S-Series. If they're indeed ones you took out of the car then the driver side flatted out for some reason.
No idea how many bends the rail has in it...

Finally found a picture of both front seats. They're from a DOHC and the rear seat is from a Coupe but the the fronts mount in identical ways '91-'02 regardless of model (well, I assume whatever...

Re: Pulling my hair out missfire SL2

" Tested and Cleaned fuel Injectors"

If this means they were removed from the car.....you put the apparently broken #3 injector into #2.

Re: Speedometer kind of works?...

Use a fork to gently pull the needle off and reset it to 0.

You can adjust the other gauges as well, just be careful the overlay isn't sticking up to catch the needle(s) so you think it's got...

Re: Valve cover bolts - 2002 Saturn SL1

Same bolt for all the SOHC's. Part number: GM 21000838.

Pretty specialized, I doubt any hardware store would have an exact match on the shelf. If you can match the thread and total length you...
