Re: Vibrating when brake

Gm seems to under size rotors on many vehicles. Do not turn the rotors, they will not have as much mass to dissipate heat and will warp again. Rotors can be had for about 25 usd each, pads can range...

Re: Anyone use TOSHIBA HIR 9011 & 9012 BULBS

Wow, I hate to dig up an old post, but I think this is worth it.
So in 2007 I put Toshiba HIR bulbs in my 99 sl1, and they are much brighter than any stock bulb. They just died, 8 years later,...

Re: Oil change timing?

I use Mobil 1 and change it between 10 and 20%. If you use a K&N or other fancy air filter, change it every 3K, no matter what oil you use. You will end up with high levels of Silicon which the...

Re: "100,000 Mile Anti-Freeze?"

I drain mine every year. No big flush just whatever comes out. I have heard that they can become acidic over time, and eat your seals. For $11 per year for a gallon, it's cheap insurance.

Re: Buying new tires for 07 XE

Several reasons.
1. stiffer sidewall to reduce the van lean.
2. Wider profile 235 55 17 vs 225 60 17 to help with stability.
3. Softer tread compound for better wet and dry traction.

I also...

Re: Buying new tires for 07 XE

Cooper spent $200 million developing the rubber for the CS4 tires. I have the V speed rated ones on our family van and they do very well. They are also priced nicely. You made a good choice.

Re: 07 XE Engine Noise

I would just get the loose bolt in your oil pan out of your mind.
Any loose metal sitting in oil would not make noise like a rattle.
Does this engine have a cat near the exhaust manifold? Could be...

I bought one from the dealer. $22 for 1!! And I bet it will break in 3 years. One thing I did was to attach the hose to the hood. At least it won't be bouncing around between the heat shield and...

Wow, all this to save $2 on gold plated contacts.... There is no excuse for this. Sorry, I'm an engineer in the connector industry that makes high quality connectors.

Re: Changing over to synthetic

Use ONLY GM filters. They will void the warranty if you don't. Also, I know the Caddie STS has direct injection, but otherwise the same engine. They insist on synthetic. I don't think it's a bad...

Re: 18" rims.

Cooper is coming out with a new tire size. Hopefully in next month.
Weather-Master WSC in a 215/55R18
If not, my backup plan is to purchase Hankook Winter iPike W409 in 225/50R18

Re: 18" rims.

Ahh. However, I only needed 2 for snow tires, and aftermarket rims actually cost more, and wouldn't match the back 2.

Re: 18" rims.

I guess you have never shopped for aluminum rims. Yes, all OEM aluminum rims are very expensive. I would guess these go for 300-400 at the dealer.

18" rims.

Will the 18" 14 spoke rims fit on an 2009 model year? They seem to be the same bolt pattern, unless I am mistaken. Are they the same color gray?

Thanks,
Al

Re: Eibach springs

They are about 7 years old. Yes, set of 4. Fit all S series. 1.3 front, I think about 1.5 rear drop. They are a great balance between looks, performance and comfort.
Thanks,
Al
