Re: Looking at buying a 2009 Astra

Yeah, I think the "car guy" thing is a bit of a red-flag when the sensors and spark plugs need replacing. The spark-plugs are fairly easy to replace and the guy clearly didn't keep up with...

Re: Good Bye Saturn

Good luck with the new Subaru. To be honest I had forgotten about this forum after my Astra was wrecked. But there are a lot of good people, but sadly, the Saturns are not long for this world...

Re: Oil experiment update, 97 SC!

My first post in a long while, I'm possibly back in the game because I'm looking at Saturn S-series or L-series as a possible winter car. I always liked this thread and think that it's still useful...

Re: Astra future in U.S.

The dealership group I bought my Astra from had a real nice one, used, as well. I feared that if I test drove it, it was mine. :dizzy: I just don't need that horsepower headache anymore... :D

Re: Astra future in U.S.

I don't understand why GM didn't move the Astra to the Buick line-up as an upscale small car in 2009...

Old Poster, New Saturn

Hi guys. I think maybe a lot of the old school posters have moved on here since the ending of the Saturn line-up and the aging SL series. But after a four year hiatus from Saturn, I recently...

How buying a car is going to change

How buying a car is going to change

With Chrysler and GM in bankruptcy, a new auto-buying landscape is emerging. And if you're car shopping, act soon; the bargains won't last much longer.

Re: Finally saw another Astra

As for the thread, I've seen more than a few and it isn't that big of a deal anymore to have a "sighting."

Re: Finally saw another Astra

You got that right, broh. The Mazda3 looks vaguely like a smiling sea mammal of some sort when coming head-on. And the five door hatch looks almost indistinguishable from the Toyota Matrix/Vibe. ...

Re: Mobile 1 Vs. Castrol Syntec vs. Royal Purple

True. But you can make a very good oil with Group III hydrocracked or slackwaxed base stocks that rivals PAO or Ester based oils. Shell Helix 5W-40 proved this over in Europe. Rumors are that...

Re: Mobile 1 Vs. Castrol Syntec vs. Royal Purple

If you're gonna use Castrol SYNTEC, you might as well get the "German Castrol" --sold only at Autozone and Pepboys in the US. It comes in the weight of 0W-30, says "Made in Germany" on the back, and...

Re: My Saturn Dealer Closed

Wow. :dizzy: It's interesting to see how many Saturn dealerships have already folded. I do hope somebody buys it as there are two Saturn dealerships here owned by the same dealership group that...

Re: Astra Advertising

The incentive should be the "no haggle" & up front pricing!

Americans continually ***** about having to go to the "stealership" and fight tooth and nail not to be ripped off. But then, they...

Re: MOA oil supplement???

I used to change oil long ago, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with bulk oil! It saves plastic and money. Cars have run for 400,000 miles on nothing but bulk oil changes from where I used to...

Re: MOA oil supplement???

BG is a good product, but Stealerships not following the manufacturers recommendations ought to be burned to the ground!

There is absolutely NO reason to put an additive into a newer car. Older...

Re: Astra Advertising

Rebates on small cars? Yes, now. But forget about it within a few months. Americans are pitching their SUVs and trucks, so they'll get the incentives. Some manufacturers are NOT EVEN MOVING OFF...

Re: Astra Advertising

Keep in mind, there aren't that many 2008 Astras in the US to begin with. But once more is known about its long term reliability and it is refined more to Americans tastes, I think the product will...

Re: Saturn Ion is Out, Saturn Astra is In

Actually it's Vauxhall that offers the Astra in Ireland, and manufacturers have limits on what they can produce because of so many markets. And with the dying SUV market, the hatchback is actually...

Re: Saturn Ion is Out, Saturn Astra is In

LOL I've driven both the Ion and the Astra, and there is no comparison - the Astra is by far the nicer car in all things fit and finish and I'd take one over a Honda Civic any day. The Ion was a...
