Re: 2004 Vue door skin swap

Even though the body style was the same from 2002 to 2007, I would stick to the same "series". For a 2004, I would look for anything from 2002 to 2005 before the headlight and dashboard revisions.

Re: 2007 Vue Struts and Shocks

When you say you're not happy with the handling, try to describe what you're not happy with. This could be worn components besided the shocks.

Re: Vue 4 cyl & Equinox 6 cyl strut interchange

The Gabriel quick struts seemed to have a softer spring rate and the dampers were seriously lacking in keeping up with the springs. I would swear I could get better damping with sponges :)

The...

Re: Vue 4 cyl & Equinox 6 cyl strut interchange

Believe it or not, for the top mounts, I simply used an AC Delco part. The Sachs part that is listed for the Vue doesn't even look like the OEM or AC Delco replacement.

Re: Dreaded P0480 and P0481 code

I would think to test the sensor, some resistance value would need to be met to 'trip' it. I'll wait for smarter heads to chime in :)

Re: Vue 4 cyl & Equinox 6 cyl strut interchange

Necropost update: I finally found the proper Sachs part numbers specific to the Vue and ordered my dampers through a local source (AutoBarn). The Sachs units were a bit more in cost compared to the...

Re: '07 Int lites and locks wacky

Thank you for this thread. My '04 Vue started to exhibit this symptom and this gives me a great starting point.

Is it safe to say you verified and cleaned grounds?

Re: Things I Need To Know-Preventative Maintenance

It sounds like you have another 4 cylinder base winner on your hands! Congrats!

The only sore spot I could point out is to see if the brakes have any indication of binding. A quick change of the...

Re: '04 Vue No Start

If you have access to an OBD2 scanner, check to see if there are any pending codes. I have seen situations where a no-start condition was corrected by clearing codes then doing the drive cycle...

Re: Tire choices

Generally the alloy wheels on the Vue gen 1 were paired with 235/65R16 tires. Coincidentally, I have an extra set of Vue rims with tires that could make it's way to you since we're both in NY.

Re: Dragging Passenger Caliper?

Another vote for the flexible hoses being the culprit. I took the approach of "if one's bad, do 'em all".

Re: 2003 Vue Bearing Replacements... PLURAL!!!

I don't know if you are doing the work yourself or having a shop do it. I've found that the amount of torque applied to the axle nut can be a factor in premature wear of the wheel bearings. I did...

Re: Frame rust

New York isn't called the Empire State without reason. The citizenry gets to pay an assortment of hidden taxes by way of fees, tolls and "required inspections".

At any rate, the aggressiveness of...

Re: 2.2L Manual owners: How many MPG (miles per gallon) are you getting?

The 2.2 5 speed Vue was rated at 21 MPG City and 26 MPG highway. With a mix of city and highway driving, I'm seeing around 25 MPG. It sounds like your mileage is within the range of normal. If...

Re: Support for gas springs

It sounds like the gas struts holding the liftgate up are starting to call it quits.

I thought it would be an expensive and somewhat complicated undertaking. Imagine my surprise in finding a pair...

Re: Getting engine service warning light

I would look into one that not only does CEL (Check Engine Light) codes, but one that also does ABS and SRS (supplemental restraints) also. I picked up a used Innova unit from a "famous internet...

Re: New tires for 16 x 6.5J wheels

I used M12x1.5 cone seat chromed McGard lug nuts and wheel locks to replace the original factory items.

Re: Vue 4 cyl & Equinox 6 cyl strut interchange

A bit more research shows the external dimensions are the same between the Vue and Equinox struts. The differences lie in the pistons:

Vue:
Compressed Length = 12.16 inches
Extended Length =...

Re: Vue 4 cyl & Equinox 6 cyl strut interchange

Definitely not looking to put any used dampers on. I noticed that the Sachs units were available for the Equinox and was hoping they would interchange over to the Vue.

Before anyone asks, yes...

Vue 4 cyl & Equinox 6 cyl strut interchange

Would anyone happen to know if the Sachs struts (part numbers 315 279 and 315 279) would interchange from the 6 Cylinder Equinox/Torrent to the 4 Cylinder Vue? I would guess that the spring seat...

Re: 17" wheels on and 18" wheel XR...

You could even go down to 16 inch wheels with 205/55R16 snows. We're running that setup with a set of old Saab 9-3 alloys.
