Re: Serpentine Belt Tensioner Replacement

I got a request from Star Lady, regarding tensioners, so I'm bumping this super old thread. Hopefully, she sees it. I've gotten a few PMs, but I'm not around the forum much anymore. Occasionally a...

Re: Serpentine Belt Tensioner Replacement

Sorry Belt Man, but you've got it a little backwards. Gates created the tensioner for Saturn. They supply Litens in this case (there is some back and forth). But Gates was the originator and Dayco...

Re: S-Series Swap Guide

I think you're right. I'm so out of practice with my Saturn knowledge. :hmm:

Re: S-Series Swap Guide

To answer both previous questions (since multi-quote doesn't seem to work) I'm almost certain there are pretty much no significant changes under the hood from 99-2002. I think that's what the...

Re: New girl in Ohio (:

Funny, Ohio is the last place anyone from Michigan (or Windsor) wants to end up. :p

It's not made by GM. Or even Chrysler or Ford. :blockhead The Genesis is pretty impressive, though. The coupe's...

Re: New girl in Ohio (:

Hello Nicole! Wow, I am quite impressed by you. Likes cars, and RWD cars! (even if it is a Hyundai :xeye: ). Not afraid of getting her hands dirty. Screw Cincy, come to Detroit for a Tigers game!...

Re: S-Series Swap Guide

Do you need Springs? I've got a set of Factory Springs from a 2002 SC1 in my basement that had 40 or 50 thousand miles on them.

Re: 17 inch rims

What was the width difference? I'm betting you went from a 15" standard tire to a wider 17" performance tire. Get a wider performance tire on your 15" rims and I bet you can't tell the difference...

Re: 02 SC2 Headlight

Wow, that sucks. Why did it take so long to take the old adjuster off? The only time I replaced a broken headlight the new one didn't come with the adjusters and I had to take them off the old...

Re: 02 SC2 Headlight

Two bolts.

Don't disassemble the aiming mechanism. And be careful with the bulbs. The easiest way to do it and not damage them is unbolt the broken headlight, unplug the bulbs and leave them in...

Re: "blip" in RPMs when holding accelerator steady/constant

Could be the transmission, or it could be as simple as a dirty EGR.

VUE Tire Recommendations

Hello all. My mom's VUE is about due for a new pair of shoes. It's still got the craptastic factory Bridgestone Duellers on it and she's not getting another set of those.

Re: Local Craigslist - RED over SILVER Saturn...

Painted bumpers and aluminum wheels mean it's an SL2, assuming it is all factory.

Re: Spring tensioner

I'm pretty sure it was '98. The '98+ tensioner will not fit older cars (The cavity in the block for it to go is too small. The older tensioenrs will fit the newer cars.

Re: Not another Ebay Find....

Are the red hot and the white hot you speak of the black roofed models? Those might be on your short list of desirable S-series Saturns.

Oh and don't forget a 2002 Saturn S-Series SL2...silver,...

Re: Oil change questions.

Depends on the car. The S-Series have a button in the underhood fuse box you need to press and hold with the key in the acc or run position (I forget which). But that didn't show up until 2000, I...

Re: Things to avoid in a Saturn

Ya, everything Link posted is easy fixes. If it's an auto make sure the tranny shifts alright when cold. No reverse slam. Make sure it doesn't burn too much oil (they are oil burners, but not to the...
