I think she's broken in. :)

First time coolant and brake fluid change done today. Also a drain & fill transmission service, as it had a full fluid change at 80k - on the verge of burned then. ...

Re: Bad coilpack, VERY expensive part

Mine went today: 90k miles, spark plugs on time (oem @30k, iridium @55k).

Conversation with my shop about oem or aftermarket - the local Chevy dealer had one in stock, but it was $150 more than...

Re: How about gas mileage?

28.8 mpg over the last 11,500 miles - and that's pretty close to my combined city/hwy mileage over 85,000 miles. I use cruise control at 69 or 79mph (US or Interstate) whenever possible. Probably...

Re: Coolant Level Sensor

Mine's been coming on for years. I just acknowledge it and it goes away til the next time. An endearing quirk that I've had to warn people about when they've borrowed my Astra.

Re: Coolant, change from Dexcool

Like this? http://www.dhmo.org/

Of all the things I've considered doing to my car, changing the type of coolant isn't one. :usa:

Re: Timing Belt service

The US/Canadian Astras' water pumps are driven by the serpentine belt, so there's no need to replace it whilst doing the timing belt.

Re: Timing Belt * Transmission Flush * 80k Miles

No interesting stories, but that won't stop my from telling one. ;)

Bought it off the showroom floor at a huge discount right after the Saturn closing announcement was made: I knew from reading...

Timing Belt * Transmission Flush * 80k Miles

1. Change your transmission fluid! Looked fine at 50k, not good at all (but not burned) at 80k. I elected to do the full flush which took 8 quarts and I'm glad I did. No machine used: done the way...

Still not sure I know what snowflake you're talking about, hut. (Welcome to Saturnfans, btw!)

Winter driving mode is activated by pushing the snowflake button to the left side of the shift...

Re: Astra buying advice wanted

If the car is in outstanding condition, and you can verify it's been taken care of, then maybe I'd buy it.

But my Astra - bought new and maintained perfectly - recently needed a serious repair...

Re: Side mirrors

Mine fell out a couple of months ago - the right side - but fell onto about ten inches of snow, so it didn't break. The glass place glued it back on for me.

How strange that so many have had the...

Can't Believe Vti Issues Still With Us

Merrily on my 4th Saturn - SL, VUE, ION, and now in my Astra's 4th year...

I decided to poke around in the VUE forum, and I cannot believe that the Vti is still with us!

The Vti was the...

Re: Rear Wiper Blade Astra 3 door XR

This thread helped me a bunch. I've been afraid to mess with mine - wary because of some older thread. Now I think I know how to break it better. :D

Re: On the fence! Thinking of trading in.

Don't trade it in - the dealer will take advantage of you. I'll give you 6k. :)

Re: Goodbye Astra.....

$7000 in negative equity seems farcical to me. After 3 years of ownership? :dizzy:

How much negative equity was added to the Astra deal? None of my business, really, but I can't wrap my head...

Re: Spark Plug Change for Astra

So easy to do. Replaced with Autolite Iridiums. Total time <20 minutes. Perhaps it's my imagination, but it did seem to run a little more smoothly.

The plugs in the picture were put in by the...

Re: Anyone have problems with the air condition?

C152,

Our Astras seem especially susceptible to the stinky a/c problem. Mine certainly had it.

As suggested by many others, I started turning it (the supplemental braking system -) off...

Re: Anyone have problems with the air condition?

Seriously - I'm not trying to be sarcastic, but are you turning the AC on?

The little snowflake button turns the AC on and off. If the AC was checked, as you say, that check should have...
