Re: Right side head lights dim.

So did you ever find the issue? My 02 SC2 is showing the same symptom.

Re: 99 SL1 radiator fan

Thanks guys! I'm going to test it later today to confirm it's the fan, then get one ordered.

99 SL1 radiator fan

I have a 99 SL1 that has developed a cooling issue.

I am suspecting that it is the fan motor, but it's currently too hot to deal with, so I'm letting it cool while I do the same.

My next step...

Re: I think I need a thermostat

I replaced the temp sensor this weekend and that fixed it. Post-repair picture of temp gauge attached.

Thanks to those who suggested checking the sensor, that's much easier to replace than the...

Re: I think I need a thermostat

Thanks for the info everyone. Based on what I learned here plus some testing I think it is probably the sensor, not the actual thermostat, which is infinitely better IMO. I hate changing...

I think I need a thermostat

So I have 2 Saturns, a 99 SL1, and an 2001 SC2.

My SL1 runs consistently at the 1/4 tick mark on the temp gauge.

My SC2 has been running at the point shown in the picture below, but I think it...

99 SL1 - leaking transmission cooling lines FIXED - Part numbers

For once I don't have an issue, but a solution.

My 99 has had a slow leak from the transmission cooling lines where they enter the transmission for years. Lately it's been getting worse so I...

Re: A/C system rebuild

Thanks for your help all.

I charged it tonight and it is working. It only took about 23 oz of coolant rather than the 24 it was supposed to but I don't suppose that's a huge issue. It was...

A/C system rebuild

Hey gents, I am getting ready to rebuild my A/C system tomorrow.

Just kind of want to make sure I don't miss any steps.

Remove compressor, drier, expansion valve.

Flush hoses,...

Re: wiring issue snowball

Well guys I am back on the road. I went to the yard again today and pulled one with a matching part number. It worked perfectly and I just eliminated the seatbelt sensor that was damaged.

Key...

Re: wiring issue snowball

Ok so tonight I took the two junction blocks apart, and they're not the same. Presumably my issue is because internally the "new" one is not the same as the old one. So how do I differentiate them...

Re: wiring issue snowball

That's a good start, I need to find out what the seat belt sensor circuit is supposed to be wired into so I can figure out where it's shorted.

Thank you.

wiring issue snowball

Hello gents,

I have a 99 SL1 and it has developed the standard F5 wiring issue. I went to the yard today and pulled a replacement IJP and that's when the real fun began.

When I hooked up the...

Re: Instrument panel LED upgrade

Correct it was just a straight swap. Take out the burnt out bulbs, put in the LED's, and go.

Mine is a Gen 3 (2001), with digital odometer.

Key point if you do it, and this may be unnecessary,...

Re: Instrument panel LED upgrade

I took a picture last night on my way home just for the heck of it. I have one of the theater lights not working, but that's my fault I'm sure.

Strictly subjective, but I really like the blue...

Instrument panel LED upgrade

I know there is a threadnaught somewhere which discusses this at extreme length but I can't locate it at the moment. I read through it ad nauseum a few weeks ago, but the key issue with it is all...

Re: New acquisition - Time to fix the A/C

You know, your reply isn't really helpful. In fact it's coming across as pretty hostile and not a little arrogant.

Obviously if the sealer had worked we wouldn't be having this discussion.

I...

Re: New acquisition - Time to fix the A/C

Ok, so today I took it over to a friend who has a set of gauges and a vac pump. It showed zero pressure so we pulled a vacuum on it. It pulled it down to -30 psi but it wouldn't hold it there so...

Third-gen SC headliner removal tip

Pulled my headliner last nigh to recover it. Much easier on the coupe than the sedan.

One thing that I found, which I wish I had known, was that unlike cars with a sunroof, the headliner is not...

Re: New acquisition - Time to fix the A/C

That's good info, but I wasn't thinking that the hex fitting was the source of the leak. I think the leak is at the (as you identified) the high pressure outlet. I find it curious that every...

Re: New acquisition - Time to fix the A/C

Did some more investigating tonight with the black light.

Maybe it's something to particular to the material, or maybe it's significant, but I noticed there is no dye on the upper part of the...

Re: New acquisition - Time to fix the A/C

I've spent some time today researching sealers, and it seems that a few years ago (3-5) the companies making the sealer change how they were doing it from a moisture catalyzed to a pressure...

Re: New acquisition - Time to fix the A/C

Yes they tried some refrigerant with sealer. I don't know how long ago.

What leads you to think the compressor seal is failed? That is a bit of a pricey item to replace. :xeye:
