Re: Questions regarding backup lights

If you want freaking bright lights that are usable, it has to be this style: https://www.amazon.com/LUYED-Extremely-Chipsets-Reverse-Brightest/dp/B01H54SP6O
So far I've found that that brand name...

Re: "new" 96 SL1

If adding a bit of fluid doesn't turn off the light then: Pull the brake fluid sensor connector off, if that doesn't turn off the light then use something (paperclip, wire, etc) to jump the 2 pins,...

Re: SOHC Model Years Head Crack Defect

'91-'02, though the earlier ones were more prone to the defect. Around Cam Journal #3 if I remember correctly and it's easy to miss due to the Styrofoam cast texture on nearly everything.

Re: 93 SC1 - Turn signal/Hazards failure

Likely just blew the hazard fuse. Weird stuff happens when that fuse blows.
Attached is the turn signal diagrams.

Re: Fuel Rail Replacement

I don't remember anything on the TB getting in the way, but that's easy enough to remove. I likely had an extension with a wobble end on it, those are amazing.

Pretty sure there's only 2 vacuum...

Re: Long post... 2 new codes after 120 miles on highway, need advice

Code reader descriptions are overly generic and often uselessly stupid. Good that you got the actual number to post.

P0507 = idle speed more than 200rpm above what the IAC is commanding....

Re: Coolant light stays on

Oh, yeah. Forgot about the cleaning option. Add fluid, if that doesn't fix it then drain & clean, if that doesn't fix it then drain again & replace.

Sucks that for 2 of the options you have to...

Re: Coolant light stays on

Solid = overtemp
Flashing = low coolant level

As it's flashing, either add a few ounce's to the coolant level to turn it off or replace the coolant tank as the level sensor is molded into the...

Re: Turbo Saturn build

The more rotating mass you have the easier take off will be, but it'll be slower to rev up. The weight trade off on the crankshaft is worth it because it's better balanced, a lighter flywheel should...

Re: Fuel Filter Installation

I think its possible yes, but its easier to pull them with the rail. The clips that hold the injectors to the rail can be quite the PITA to work with.

Cleaning:
Use the spare washer pump...

Re: 2000 Saturn SL1

I'd check the cig lighter fuse first for the OBD-II reader thing, then wiggle/jiggle the heck out of the key in run to see if the gauges respond. I'm suspecting a bad ignition switch based on the...

Re: Fuel Filter Installation

The tool that makes those crimps is $300 and also comes with the dies to make double and bubble flares on brake lines (closer to $500 for one with the full die kit that includes larger hydraulic line...

Re: Turbo Saturn build

I'm not sure which is the overall stronger crankshaft, but the heavier one is better balanced (smoother running) and can "pointlessly" rev higher.
"Pointlessly" because there's a steep power...

Okay, it's been long enough. Time for the jerk buzz-kill.

Re: Fighting p0401 EGR code!!!

Verify the MAP sensor is reading 1-1.5v at idle.

Not much for diagnostic aids on this one, basically just clean/replace the EGR valve and clean the EGR passages. Also pull the MAP sensor and...

Re: Manual Trans Swap

The fun part of transmission swaps is living in the rust belt so it's safer/easier/faster to pull the engine & transmission together out the top than drop the cradle enough to sneak the transmission...

Re: Non-Working Cruise Control on Later Generation S-series

The nuts that were sent with the part pictured are not the ones pictured with the part so there is a fair chance the thread pitch is also wrong hence the shaft twisting. Normal nuts are easy enough...

Re: Top windshield mounted third brake light plastic

The red plastic bit is part of the lamp housing, it's not a separate piece.

Same part (GM 21110665) '96-'02 SL/SL1/SL2 but it's NLA new so a junkyard is likely your only option (didn't see any on...

Re: New AMR Aluminum Radiator - Not Direct Fit (Giving Away for Free)

Re: Radio connector pinout, 1993 SL1

If it's on any of the S-Series radios, it's only the 1.5 or 2 DIN units. It's likely printed on one of the 100's of other '87-'02 GM Family vehicles that use the same connector.
Only "gotcha" part...

Re: '99 Coolant over flow tank vent line help ? ?

If CEL is on, any OBD-II code reader can read the codes.
If the Service (Wrench) light is on it requires a more advanced code reader, usually of the Tech-2 variety. Generally the Service light is...
