Re: Automotive News: General Motors Can Spin Saturn into a Success, Via Opel

I have the facts. You have disclosed your imagination.

And the facts are straightforward. Each and every consumer study on this matter has shown that average consumers, not folks as obviously...

Re: Will Customers Steer Clear of Saturn Now that GM Has Put the Fate of the Nameplat

Problem is that there are certain people who so intensely hate unions that they would push for all the US automakers to go bankrupt, regardless of the horrific damage it would cause OUR country. ...

Re: Automotive News: General Motors Can Spin Saturn into a Success, Via Opel

Ah the standard Republican congressional response -- well let them just declare bankruptcy and restructure and all will be well.... Right! When the masses refuse to buy vehicles from a bankrupt...

Re: Will Customers Steer Clear of Saturn Now that GM Has Put the Fate of the Nameplat

This is the kind of short-sighted attitude that I just can't stand. It's frightening, however and GM needs to confront it. People willing to turn to Hondas ad other foreign brands because they feel...

Re: Possibly dangerous Seatbelt issue

Well they do have metal cores, so it will likely continue to the metal and stop. However, the plastic may crack open or the webbing may star to fray.

Now that is a bigger question. Does the...

Re: '09 Aura Offers Class-Leading EPA Estimated 33 MPG Fuel Economy in a Stylish, Ref

Huh? Recharge from a line circuit? What are you talking about?

The battery system as far as I am aware has a minimum 8 year 100,000 mile warranty on it, as per EPA rules. The hybrid system...

Re: Analyst: Production of Next-Gen Saturn Astra, Chevy Cobalt Moving to Mexico

Oh what a fabulous idea! So the Mexican slaves will be making all of GM's small vehicles for the NA market including the antequated Cobalt, in addition to those Korean slaves making the little Chevy...

Re: Changes for 2009

Well for the V6, i thought it boosted the mileage by almost 2mpg. So I would have figured it would have done equally as well with the 4 cylinder model. That would have basically tied it with the...

Re: Changes for 2009

And the really big question -- what are the estimated mileage numbers for the standard 4-cyl Aura with the 6-spd auto, versus the elusive GL hybrid with the 4-cyl + 4-spd? (BAS-I).

Re: Lutz Hints at Price Points for Both the Two-Mode and Plug-In Hybrid Vues

Well, Americans are keeping their cars for much longer periods on average, than in the past, and also, the drivetrain warranty/hybrid system on the hybrid models are extended to 8+ years.

Re: 6-speed in the 4 cylinder?

So basically, they created a similar mileage improvement (1-2 mpg) as the GL BAS-I hybrid system, by just improving the transmission.

I'm sure the few GL owners out there will be overjoyed....

Re: Lutz Hints at Price Points for Both the Two-Mode and Plug-In Hybrid Vues

Insanity!

$48k for a little Vue?!?!?!?!?! He's totally high! Isn't the BMW SUV less than that? Isn't the full-size, Two-Mode Chevy/GMC around $48 or 50k?

I'm sorry but that is way too...

Re: Cars.com Picks the Top 10 Hybrids for 2008

Sure, it's just peachy keen at shutting off the engine at stops (for two minutes or less, the cut off point for the BAS system).

It's just completely unable to actually power the wheels and move...

Re: New Low-Cost GM Hybrid System Previewed in Geneva, Will Debut in North America by

Yeah, I would hope that they can return to using a US supplier(s) but they must do something to keep this viable, and do so quickly. Ford as far as I know, uses Japanese batteries, and their basic...

Re: New Low-Cost GM Hybrid System Previewed in Geneva, Will Debut in North America by

So you are saying that Cobasys has already supplied GM with a stockpile of 10 years worth of batteries when they can't even seem to produce one meager production year's worth of product? I truly...

Oh well here we go again, more talk talk from GM.....

OK, some questions for the more learned folks on the blog: 1.) Will the BAS-II system supplant the BAS-I system completely? 2.) Any news...

Eh well, kinda. I have seen that SAE white paper they did on the GM BAS-I hybrid system and it really did seem very intricate and complex for what it offered. The system does provide some boost and...

Boy that's a lot of people being blown out of a lot of water!

The two mode system is really the holy grail, however, GM can barely get it off the ground in the big SUVs. GM has not even been able...
