Re: That "old car smell"

Just throwing this out for thought. We all know the sneaker stink from moldy hvac systems and the various treatments all the way to GM putting out a bulletin for a chemical coating on evaporator...

Re: Fuel injector harness

Each coil pack consists of three ignition coils, fired by the ecm. Each coil pack has it's own connector to the main wiring harness going to the ecm. If you can, disconnecting the coil pack for...

Re: Air Conditioning Problem?

Your system lost refrigerant. Buy and use a uv blacklight to find the source of the leak. Dye will glow greenish yellow, marking the leak site. Examples of dye - remove one of the service caps and...

Re: '97 SW1 A/C doesn't do anything

2k rpm, low side@35 psi and high side@100 psi means your system lost refrigerant. It leaked out. If you don't have one, buy and use a uv blacklight to find the source of the leak. Your compressor is...

Re: '97 SW1 A/C doesn't do anything

Are those pressures measured at idle or 2k rpm? S-series ac systems are measured at 2k rpm. And did not assume the compressor is faulty. Too many assumptions made without refrigeration knowledge...

Re: thermostat tools

If I'm not mistaken, the toilet paper cardboard roll is a makeshift press using your hands to push the cardboard roll against the t-stat to compress the spring, rotating the ears into place before...

Re: Stock Thermostat Temp? 180F or 195F?

I don't have 100% access to all service manuals. Since t-stats are 180F, the service manuals are incorrect. I have limited access to service bulletins that presumably would address this to correct...

Re: 2007 VUE AC Weirdness

Re: Installing a Solar Battery Charger

The problem isn't the power outlet wiring or fuse. Its the F5 terminal connections that distribute 25 or 30 amps of current to the branch circuits. Since F5 is before the power outlet, its really the...

Re: 2007 VUE AC Weirdness

Just a guess on my part plus wiring diagrams for '04 Vues aren't clear of wiring interaction between blower speed control and ac compressor operation. In my mind and based on your descriptions, any...

Re: Installing a Solar Battery Charger

Mister_Cee, the F5 issue is the only weak point of wiring in the S-series cars. In electrical circuits, the weakest part of wiring are usually the connection terminals and the F5 terminals feeding...

Re: Engine Heating Question

Re: '97 SW1 A/C doesn't do anything

Drugstore mineral oil is suggested. If you have a refrigeration parts or general supply distributor, they may have r12 mineral oil. They may have Nylog, a general purpose lube for hvac systems.
